The sushi is priced based on the distance the raw fish travels from Japan. They don’t serve traditional fried tempura here; in fact, nothing is fried at all. It costs around $6 for a bowl, offering a unique experience to enjoy the decor and appreciate the service. However, I personally prefer more traditional options that come with a lower price point. The atmosphere and decor of the restaurant were lovely, creating a pleasant vibe, and the staff were friendly and attentive. However, the miso soup was quite salty, and the tofu lacked softness—I'd recommend skipping it. The seaweed salad, while visually appealing, was rather dull in flavor and didn't have much seaweed. The dressing felt off, lacking the necessary vinegar kick to balance the sourness of the green papaya. I suggest passing on that as well and focusing on the sushi instead. The sushi itself was excellent, but I can only give three stars since they were out of tuna—apparently reserved for a special roll that was off-limits for us due to dietary restrictions. Overall, I found the experience underwhelming, especially considering the higher prices compared to other places. However, I’m willing to give it another try.

Ryu has to be one of the gold standars for Sushi in Montreal. What I really liked about the Ste-Catherine st. location apart from the great sushi is the ambiance, it 's a relaxed ambiance, their other locations seem to be more lively .Had some wonderful sushi, salmon, shrimp, tuna, all very fresh. Drinks were nice and strong, try the margarita. The service was super attentive and welcoming
The quality of the fish is amazing. The service wasn’t great new staff and they didn’t know the menu very well. They advertise a wine or sake pairing but they don’t have one.
All the fish served was incredibly fresh and every minor detail in each dish was executed to perfection, right down to the intelligent use of edible garnishes that added an additional layer to each dish. The staff were professional, sociable and attentive. Not once did I wonder about when a glass of water would be refilled or when we'd get the opportunity to order another dish or drink, they were always one step ahead. Cocktails were outstanding and the presentation was beautiful, truly tied the whole experience together. A serious 10/10 experience for me my friends.
