A good not great meal. The pappardelle was the best dish we had between the of us. The chocolate cake was nice too. The gnocchi in squid ink was strangely sweet. Everything else was reasonable but not good enough for a return visit. Staff were lovely attentive. The food was tasty and the service was great. The alcohol was slightly on the expensive side, but not excessively so.
We visited this restaurant for a special occasion, but were surprised to find out that there was only a set menu with no alternatives available. This was our first time at the restaurant, and we had chosen it based on positive reviews we had read. The restaurant is small and busy, with a quaint, old-fashioned feel that has been updated to appeal to a hipster crowd. During our visit, the restaurant was not very crowded and we finished our meal during the peak of dinner time, so the noise level was manageable. The restaurant serves as a coffee shop during the day and a bistro at night. The four-course meal we had included two vegetable starters, a main dish, and a dessert. While the food was decent, it did not stand out to us in any particular way - it was fairly average. Considering the price per person, which came to over $100 after tips and without drinks, we did not feel that the meal was worth it. Perhaps ordering a la carte on a regular day would provide a different experience. The ambience of the restaurant was okay, and the service was decent.
I had brunch there with my kids and thought it would be a different place to go for Valentine 's Day with my husband. We don 't like to go out to fancy restaurants and spend a ton on a meal, but we do enjoy great food. They didn 't disappoint. It was a four course set menu for $45. Everything was well presented, great tasting and original. Decent wine is only $8 per glass. We were there early enough that there was a little bit of the 'coffee shop ' crowd left which made it a bit noisy initially, but it go quieter after that. A nice place to stop in for a coffee in the morning and drinks and small plates in the afternoon. Will totally be back.
We tried the 4-course menu for Dine Out Vancouver and everything was flawless.
