As you explore our space, you'll find various hidden gems, including the beautifully restored wood ceilings of The Coffeehouse and The Parlour Bar, once hidden beneath layers of white paint. Our location was once the site of “Centennial Hall,” where the First Primitive Methodist Church was established. The Vesper Room, our dining space, has echoes of its previous life as a stone carving business, with artifacts from its history, such as a cross carved into stone, uncovered during renovations. At The Abbey, every visit promises a new experience. Our passionate team of baristas, cooks, and bartenders collaborate to create an innovative menu that expertly blends comfort and creativity, ensuring that no two visits are alike. During our extensive renovations, we revealed the original brick walls and sandblasted wooden beams of The Parlour Bar. Here, you can admire the antique wrought iron elevator door panels from the Jenkin’s Arcade, adding a touch of Pittsburgh’s architectural history to your experience. Crowning The Coffeehouse is a stunning reclaimed church rose window from Our Lady Help of Christian Church, creatively transformed into a chandelier and serving as our logo. The Vesper Room dazzles with reclaimed oak paneling and stained-glass windows rescued from the Mary S. Brown Methodist Church, all aglow with vintage advertising signs from local businesses. Our outdoor dining area boasts one of the largest green spaces in the city, framed by a magnificent cast iron Windsor Fountain. We've embraced local artistry in every aspect of our design. The handcrafted ceramic tiles in The Vesper Room and Parlour Bar, created by local artist Shari Bennet, mimic riveted steel and were kiln-fired at Limelight Tile. From our woodwork to our paint sourced from PPG Paints, and the hand-painted vintage signage crafted by Christian at Brush Pounce, we strived to celebrate Pittsburgh talent and craftsmanship. At The Abbey on Butler Street, we invite you to immerse yourself in a space that celebrates Pittsburgh's history while offering a novel culinary experience. With our coffeehouse, two bars, and dedicated dining venue, we are excited to host you under one roof. Come and discover a place that feels both innovative and comforting, a true gem close to home.

Great place to hang out, get coffee, lunch, or dinner. Nice outdoor space. Pup friendly. Really neat interior in the coffee lounge. Try their apricot oatmeal bars.. they are addicting. Parking: Parking right outside is free. Not common, but awesome! View all feedback.
What Jennifer Geminn doesn't like about The Abbey On Butler Street:
Was looking forward to going someplace new. Out with friends and enjoyed the overall atmosphere. Great crab dip but entrees were underwhelming and a bit disappointing. Was so looking forward to dessert as waitstaff mentioned in house pastry chef, too bad he kept ignoring us and never really came to check once we were done with dinner. Would like to think they were just busy, but a quick stop to tell us so would have... View all feedback.
