Quality Ethiopian Cuisine that one would suspect you would find in downtown DC. Very intimate and down to earth atmosphere. Great for a business lunch, casual dinner, or fun date. Very reasonable prices, excellent food, and very worth the price. Highly recommend. View all feedback.

Cute place and food tastes great. Too bad they depart from Ethiopian tradition and serve food in Western style bowls. Also injera was cold. Also,took more than half hour after giving our order to get served and they forgot to give us the side dishes that come wth the order. The place was not crowded So no excuse for poor service. I don't recall ever trying Ethiopian food before visiting Abol, so I can't compare it to other restaurants that serve this cuisine. The aromas were distinct and flavorful. The bread that accompanied the meal was unlike anything I've ever had and paired perfectly with the dishes. The service was excellent; my server took the time to explain the traditional ways to enjoy the meal and was knowledgeable about the ingredients and preparation. This restaurant is a delight, especially for those looking to experience exotic flavors.
While the waitstaff could be a bit more attentive, they were friendly and very accommodating once approached. The food was authentic, fresh, and reasonably priced by D.C. standards. I chose to sit outside, which did mean dealing with some traffic noise, but it was sometimes quiet too. Overall, it was a solid experience.
I had a wonderful experience at Abol Ethiopia restaurant. We shared a veggie platter and kitfo (raw minced meat), and both were delicious. I also tried a glass of Tej (honey wine), which was fantastic. While the service was a bit slow, making it less ideal for those in a rush, I would definitely recommend this place.
Small but intimate and gorgeous, sumptuously delicious cuisine. I just LOVE injerna! So versatile and they give you enough of it to take home!
