Spinasse is a restaurant that offers a unique dining experience focused on Piedmonte style Italian food. The entrance and check-in process may be a bit crowded and unpleasant, but once seated, the friendly and knowledgeable waitstaff provide good service. The dishes, while on the expensive side, offer a tasty dining experience. However, the atmosphere can be loud and the table setup might not be the most comfortable. The food and service are overall very good, but there may be better options for a celebratory meal in Seattle. The restaurant offers a romantic vibe and excellent service, with standout dishes like the CIPOLLINI RIPIENI appetizer. The pasta dishes are decent, but not exceptional, and some dishes may be too rich or salty. The cozy space, warm energy, and delicious food make it a great choice for a local dining experience. It's a must-visit in Seattle, with exceptional dishes like the Tajarin and beef cheeks. The butter and sage pasta is a standout, and the service is top-notch. Excellent ambiance and very good service, but surprisingly disappointing food. The signature pasta with butter and sage was more of an excessively-rich, congealed glob, the gnocchi with braised goat was very good but way too salty, and the sautéed kale oddly tough. Chicory salad, house-made breads, and desserts were great. I've enjoyed Spinasse several times before, so this was disappointing. View all feedback.
What Nick dislikes about Spinasse:
As someone with heritage in northern Italy, I was disappointed. I found the food to be rather bland, aside from the goat gnocchi. The desserts were rather sweet, as well. That might be okay with some palettes, but I wasn’t sold. I was drawn to this restaurant because of the cuisine (which is rather hard to find) and the extensive wine list consisting of a plentiful amount of Barolo’s. The wine list certainly delivere... One of Seattle 's very best pasta dishes, the tajarin al burro e salvia: hand-cut flat noodles, thinner and more delicate than tagliatelle, is the standout dish. $18 for a generous half portion. Easily shared, a full order is $31. Don 't miss the rabbit meatballs, either. Spinasse defines the second generation of Italian restaurants in Seattle, no longer the exclusive domaine of immigrant families.
Been to Spinasse about 5 times now and have seen the seasonality of their dishes. The ambiance is incredibly lovely and the staff feel chilled but poised at the same time to provide excellent service. At the end of the day, the focus here is their incredible, incredible pasta. Starters and other sides were good, but all had minor issues such as too salty, awkward portions/cuts of food, or took away from the again incredible pasta dishes. Definitely get the larger portions of the pasta. Wine selection is excellent. Overall a good value. I will be going back again for the fabulous pasta dishes, largest sizes they serve.
Food was not what I expected, it was even better. Highly recommend to visit this place. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
