Tommy’s was founded by Tom Koulax in 1946 in Los Angeles, at the corner of Beverly Blvd. and Rampart Blvd. Initially, it took some time for the public to discover the small stand. However, Tom's hard work and dedication to quality and fast service paid off, as by the mid 1950’s, Tommy’s had gained a reputation among Los Angeles burger lovers like no other. In the 1960’s, to accommodate the growing customer base, Tom expanded his operation and acquired the entire southeast corner along with a second serving station. It was clear that the public was hooked on Tommy's by this time.
