What Anonym dislikes about Sheperds:
As a disabled person, waiting in line at carveries is difficult for me, as is carrying plates of food. The system is pay in advance and join the queue. I chose the fish and chips and the barman came and told me it was ready...to collect, which my daughter did for me. I regretted choosing the fish as it was quite a horrible mushy thing, of unknown origin. No flavour. I told myself not to choose fish again unless it wa... View all feedback.
We called today for a relaxing Friday and that is what we got. Thanks to Sam and the team for a clean and safe space.
I have been here hundreds of times, even for the Christmas dinner (which I wouldn’t advise trying) I often came here for breakfast until they started rationing the sausages. Today I thought I would see if the sausage counting had ended. My goodness me, it...was the worst breakfast I had ever had. Clearly re heated from the day before. The bacon crumbled when I tried to eat it. The sausages were as tough as an old boot. And here’s a funny one......, I struggle to walk. All the seating next to the bar where there’s no step was reserved . Obviously I went further in up the step to the non reserved area . Upon sitting down I saw why the other seating was reserved . It’s for the staff to eat their breakfast and lounge around on. I had to laugh. Disgusting. I was surprised they actually ate the cremated offerings. A customer approached one of the lounging staff and was told “ iam not on duty at the moment “ what’s happened to this place. It’s gone down the toilet for sure.

Wow! Just wow! The staff were friendly and polite. I came in feeling hungry and angry (hangry) after a bad meal at another place (we can't even call it a restaurant, the food was disappointing). I ordered my meal and dessert for the kids, and the manager went above and beyond to make my experience better. He made me laugh, completely turning my bad mood around, and even offered me an upgrade when he saw how upset I was. The food was amazing - delicious and fresh. The kids were happy with their puddings, and we all left with clean plates. I will definitely be coming back here. We should have come here first. It may have been my second choice today, but it will always be my first choice from now on. x
We recently visited Stonehouse Pizza Carvery during our stay at Thorntons camping site, and we were more than pleased with our experience. While it is mostly self-service, as others have pointed out, we found the atmosphere to be enjoyable for both adults and children. I had a delicious pint of beer that was served in a frozen glass, which was perfect for the hot weather. The summer ambiance of the restaurant was inviting and relaxing. We ordered 3 calzones, 4 children's meals, and two pizzas, all of which were freshly cooked to perfection. The sides of chips and vegetables were also very tasty. The friendly service added to our overall satisfaction with the dining experience. I usually do not leave reviews, but I felt compelled to share how much we enjoyed our meal. The prices were reasonable, and we will definitely be returning in the future. Highly recommended.
