Was Donald Cooper at Caspers a mag?
I 've seen this spot on Telegraph coming from and going to places since 1986 but never stopped in. I enjoy a good dog every so often so, since I was walking by, I thought why not? . Clearly, the real fun of a hot dog place is the toppings and Casper 's has all of them (chili, 'kraut, cheese, onions, pickles, relish, etc. . This place was practically empty. I know it's a Casper Hotdog but to pay $8 for only a hotdog is pretty ridiculous. I ordered like 4 different types of hotdogs. The chili one was...not good. The others were pretty much bland at best. I'll just go to Costco for my Hotdog fixings...and it's only $1.50 plus it comes with a drink. View all feedback.
Walking in the store is like walking back in time, even if the hot dogs are modern day prices. These hot dogs are solid!
Although they may not be considered gourmet by many, Casper's Hot Dogs are a symbol of old-school working-class American cuisine in Oakland and the East Bay. They still hold true to their value in their food. The way they assemble their hot dogs, with a small wedge of onion, a small wedge of tomato, a hint of mustard and relish, and a hot dog that snaps, provides the perfect bite into a soft bun. Each bite is a delightful mix of flavors, starting with the heat of the onion, followed by the coolness of the tomato, and finishing with the snappy flavor of the delicious sausage. This is a must-try for anyone who hasn't experienced it yet, as it is a piece of Oakland's history that may not be around forever.
This restaurant is amazing. The female staff members are friendly and welcoming. The hot dogs are consistently delicious and made with fresh ingredients. Great job, ladies! The Casper's location on Telegraph is definitely the best one to visit.
I always have an excellent experience when I come to this restaurant, and the toppings are consistently fresh.
Easy in easy out, even when there's a line. The dogs are always good, great snap on the casing. Buns are always steamed nicely and the produce is always nice and fresh. I guess it would have to be, the go through is so fast, no chance for it to go bad. I had two of the Famous Casper Dogs, my usual. I love the fact that they put tomato on it. It works so well with the white onion and mustard. All in all, great hot dogs.
