Was Jeff Phillips at Hyatt Place Bloomington/normal a mag?
The rooms are quiet and comfortable, and the breakfast buffet is exceptional. The staff is very accommodating and eager to help. The only drawback is that if you're just passing through, it can be a bit of a drive from the interstate highways. However, if you're looking to be near the university, it's a perfect choice. What Jae Butler dislikes about Hyatt Place Bloomington/Normal:
I would give this place zero stars if possible. We booked two types of rooms over a month in advance, only to find out that the room we reserved had been given away. They told us it was a first-come, first-served situation. So what was the point of making a reservation? I reached out to customer service and was promised that management would contact us, but they never did. During our week-long stay, no one bothered t... View all feedback.
I had a very comfortable stay! Everything was fresh and clean. The bathroom featured a step-in shower, which I really appreciated. The hotel's parking is conveniently located directly across the street on Beaufort, in the Bloomington Normal Amtrak Parking Garage—not to be confused with the other parking structure also across the street called the Beaufort Street Parking Deck. I mistakenly parked in the wrong garage because I was unfamiliar with the area and misunderstood the directions from the check-in staff. The breakfast options were excellent, offering a wide variety of choices. I explored the nearby area and felt completely safe. There's a nice place called The Circle close by, featuring a range of shops, eateries, and some lovely public art and murals.
I booked the Grand Corner King room, but upon checking in, I was informed that they could not provide that room, despite being a Globalist Hyatt member who is entitled to the best available room according to Hyatt's policies. I reached out to Hyatt customer service, and they confirmed that the manager at this location does not adhere to basic Hyatt guidelines. They also contacted the manager on my behalf and included me in the email, requesting that the manager respond to me to resolve the situation. Unfortunately, the manager has not responded or resolved the issue. I've stayed at over 10 different Hyatt hotels across the U.S., and I've always received respectful treatment and complimentary upgrades, even without asking. However, this Hyatt Place is a completely different case. They have not only been unresponsive to customer service but have also shown a lack of respect for their guests. I am extremely disappointed with the management at Hyatt Place Bloomington/Normal. I expect Hyatt to take action to address this issue and ensure that their customers are treated with the respect they deserve.
We chose to stay at the Hyatt because we expected a high standard of cleanliness, and after doing extensive research before making the reservation, I thought I had made the right choice. Unfortunately, this experience has led me to feel like I made a mistake. I spoke with the front desk about the issue, and they apologized and assured me they would inform the housekeeping staff. However, this level of cleanliness is unacceptable given the price we are paying for our stay. Please ensure that the housekeeping team is aware of this situation. Thank you.
We spent four days here, and I think the hotel needs to focus more on attention to detail. There have been stains on the lobby floors since we arrived, and the Culligan water bottle in the lobby has been empty the entire time. The carpets have numerous stains as well. While our room was great, the lobby area could definitely use some upkeep. I noticed dirty tile floors throughout the lobby; it just gives a poor impression. Additionally, on our first night, we had to walk past two homeless men sleeping in the doorway to the garage elevators, which was quite unsettling. They were situated on the bottom floor, right outside the small carpeted area.
