The location and view are fantastic, and the atmosphere—both inside and outside—is delightful. However, the food is disappointing. Given its connection to the Kirribilli Club, known for its quality dining, this was quite surprising. I would recommend coming here for drinks and skipping the food altogether. We visited Mosman RSL for the first time after hearing from a fellow Uber Pool passenger that they serve the best blue cheese chicken wings in Sydney. However, when we arrived at the RSL, we couldn't find any wings on the menu. So, we made our way upstairs and discovered The Fernery. It’s a lovely, spacious restaurant with a great view. The seating options include indoor, semi-indoor, and outdoor areas. The staff were incredibly friendly, and we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food! It’s a perfect spot for family gatherings, dates, or just a casual catch-up with friends on the weekend.
The Fernery is our favorite spot for a leisurely Sunday lunch that stretches into the afternoon. Tucked away atop the Mosman Club, this modern and classy rooftop bar and restaurant is ideal for a summer day. The seating arrangements cater to various dining experiences; on previous visits for dinner, we opted for the cozy lounge area near the kitchen instead of the outdoor bar. The menu offers an extensive selection of dishes, and since we visit often, we’ve almost tried everything on offer—and we haven’t found anything we don’t like.
This sky-high garden features a dedicated gin room, a rosé bar, and an abundance of lush greenery. From here, you can enjoy breathtaking views of Sydney Harbour, North Head, and the CBD, complemented by a delightful food menu that is sure to impress. Let’s take a moment to appreciate the rosé bar. The Fernery offers a diverse selection of half a dozen different rosés, along with a variety of rosé cocktails that incorporate fresh herbs from the rooftop garden. How charming! There are also gin cocktails, seasonal wines on tap, and other delightful beverages to explore. Ultimately, The Fernery is a perfect getaway for the lunching lady!
The food was fantastic, but the service was extremely slow, which was disappointing considering the restaurant was only about 10% full. Overall, I would rate the food as a 5, the service as a 2, and the atmosphere as a 4. I dined in for dinner.
