A lunch off the piste, excellent food from a not over complicated menu. The vegetable soup was excellent as was the mushrooms on toast and apple pie. Great atmosphere and a really traditional feel - much better than the "production line" self service - make a visit if you can
Hot soup on a cold day is just the thing for skiers - with or without a big chunk of cheese and bread to eat on the side or dip and melt into the soup. A slice of homemade apple tart and cup of tea refuels the tank! Ready to ski again.Traditional plates available: dried meat, cheese, fondu and such.Hydrate the kids with syrup and water...CHF 0.50 .
Not shown on the Téléverbier piste map because it's independent, which is a plus! Family-owned and very friendly, cosy inside and with good seating outside. Open peak summer and winter seasons. Good range of food and drink and apple tart baked daily on-site is perfect with a vin chaud that's just perfect.
Chez Simon doesn't have much competition up the mountain; there is an almost complete dearth of on slope eateries in La Tzoumaz. That doesn't seem to affect the service which is attentive and friendly. Cappuccinos and Hot Chocolates for those "white out" mid morning warm ups - complemented by their excellent home made apple tart. At lunch the Croute au Champignons is a local favourite and very reasonable.
Chez Simon is a great place whatever the weather. There is a sunny terrace for fine days, and a toasty logburner inside for wet or snowy days.Simon offers a good variety of reasonably priced hot dishes, which really hit the spot on a cold ski day. My party had creamy muchrooms on toast, chicken curry, and vegetable soup, and we all agreed that this was probably the best mountain food we had during the trip.
