As a big city person, I was worried about my food options, but stumbled upon this lovely restaurant. The decor was cool and servers friendly. Food was yummy and kept eating and eating...the drinks were excellent as well! I would totally recommend this. It's off the beaten Downtown path, but not really far. Perhaps a ten or fifteen minute walk from the hockey arena downtown or Citadel. View all feedback.

We stumbled onto this place during a recent trip to Halifax, trying to find a patio party that was cancelled. Friend didn 't love the menu (not a 'sharer ' , so we had drinks and bite to eat at the bar, before heading back downtown for dinner. I had a taco, it was very good, friend just a bowl of bread. As you can read in previous reviews: no menu but chalk board, food based to share, unique interior,...What's important (for us):- for this price I would at least expect a table cloth in stead of the sticky wooden surface- beer selection is poor and wine is overpriced (maybe because I'm European?)- food is very good and made with only local ingredients according to the waitress when I asked for pepper to put on my oysters. She brought me an American/Canadian sauce (first try was an empty bottle) which was quite spicy but did not really fit the oysters. For dessert we took the cheese board where we found several foreign (= not local) cheeses... Conclusion: We love alternative/different/not main stream initiatives, but be consequent in what you do. Local beer was OK, but "imported" wine is overpriced. Pepper is a basic ingredient in practically any kitchen... don't exagerate please by not using a classic. This place seemed to be a new hype in town according to the amount of people that came in later that evening.Food is good and originally presented but way overpriced. 3$ for an oyster in a harbour town... 3$ for bread...Nice experience, for once.
From the outside, this was not what I was expecting as the exterior was rather "office" like and dull but the food choices were anything but. The menu was designed to be shared. The various dishes were posted on chalkboard (we were told there was a basic selection and then the others changed as local ingredients came in or went out of season). The portions were just enough. We had flank steak with fresh mozza, deviled egg with smoked trout, fiddleheads with a cream sauce, and pork carnita tacos. The egg and trout was delicious. The fiddleheads were wonderfully fresh and the cream sauce required an order of the outstanding house sourdough to soak up every drop. The steak we found undercooked and cold and the tacos were average. Presentation was great for all. Service was first rate. Would definitely go back.

One of the best spots in town, no question. The drinks always hit, the food selection is reliable and delicious. A great place to share, the let us choose option is highly recommended, the pairings were prefection. Price per person: $90–100 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
Words do not express the standard of quality, taste, atmosphere and service this restaurant provides. It is a gem in the Halifax food scape. The atmosphere is casual, yet attentive. The quality of service is matched only by the incredible tastes created by the in house chefs. The bar is intricate in its offerings and tastes. Overall if you are looking for a nice evening with incredible food and drink, this is the place to be. Have no reservations in making a reservation!
