We visited here quite a few times now. We randomly come across this on google. It’s a lovely little pub and the food is amazing. We didn’t book and was welcomed in and found us a table straight away and this was on a Saturday. I would recommend to book though. Especially if u are going for Sunday lunch. View all feedback.
What colingrahamj dislikes about Axe Compass:
My wife and I arrived at the pub at 5:30 on a Saturday evening for a quick meal. There were only 6 customers inside having a drink. I went to the bar to inquire about food service and was initially told they were serving, but the staff needed to check something. A few seconds later, I was informed that no tables were available. Despite the restaurant being empty and most of the bar as well, we were turned away. We we... View all feedback.
This restaurant is a lovely, old pub that has been beautifully renovated while still maintaining its original charm. The interior is split into three separate dining areas, providing each table with plenty of space to enjoy their meal without feeling cramped. The menu offers a diverse selection of dishes to suit most tastes, and the ones we tried were well presented, nicely cooked, and reasonably priced. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and happy to offer recommendations on the different dishes available. Overall, it was a pleasant experience and I would definitely come back again.
We had a wonderful family meal at this restaurant. The food was excellent and the staff were all very friendly. They were helpful and great with the kids. The atmosphere inside was cozy and inviting, making it a great place to enjoy a meal or have a few drinks. I would definitely recommend this place and will be coming back soon.
This is a lovely looking pub, with views across the countryside and walks available. The meals consistently very good whenever we have been there. The wine is also good and the beer, including a local brew, well looked after. Service is always good. The monthly quiz is always entertaining and not taken too seriously my most teams. We shall be back!
This is a cosy, traditional pub with friendly staff. The prices are a little higher than regular pubs but this is because it is not your standard “pub grub”. The portions are large and absolutely delicious. There were plenty of Sunday roast choices which looked incredible. I fancied something a little different and tried so tried the vegetarian tofu curry. It was bursting with flavour and packed full of interesting ingredients. We had a wonderful family lunch and the place was busy but didn’t feel chaotic or stressful as some pubs can on Sunday lunch times. Definitely worth a visit for a cosy atmosphere and delicious food.
