Castle Durrow offers a captivating blend of historical charm and natural beauty, making it a picturesque venue for events and dining. While the architecture and gardens are stunning, there are concerns regarding service consistency and modern amenities. Many guests appreciate the attentive staff and pleasant atmosphere, especially during special occasions, but some have experienced disappointing food quality and outdated room facilities. Despite these mixed reviews, the potential of this elegant establishment shines through, suggesting that with improvements in service and modernization, Castle Durrow could truly excel as a premier destination. Overall, it remains a venue worth exploring.
This beautiful spot left the best impressions. We enjoyed every single bite of the meal. Staff was very attentive and accommodating. They all worked as a team which was wonderful to see. The atmosphere and the surroundings are exceptional. We will definitely return to this fabulous place.
Does not deserve to be on Ireland's Blue Book. Service is amateur, the food is very basic nothing special, the hotel is not managed well, the garden is run with weeds. Waited 30mins for a waiter to ask for tea orders, ended up getting the tea ourselves from the bar and the bar delivered them all wrong in the end. The dinner is ok but nothing special unlike other Blue Book hotels. Breakfast especially is really poor, with mushy fruits sitting in water (check photo), really poor selection of choice, no almond/oat/soya milk available for coffee. There is a shaksuka egg on the menu, I have never eaten anything this random and underwhelming in my life (check photo); one piece of egg placed on canned beans. Bread was not served with breakfast and we asked for it. The castle itself is absolutely beautiful but the service and the kitchen should improve.
We stayed in room 112, fabulous architecture, gardens, and staff. Thank you also for the complimentary prosecco at dinner to help celebrate our one year wedding anniversary. Beautiful place, would definitely recommend. Rooms: 5 Service: 5 Location: 5
Gorgeous hotel with an excellent restaurant. We stayed in a Heritage Room which was very comfortable. The staff were all very attentive and welcoming. Highly recommended.
What a fantastic venue for any type of private and personal celebration. We had a fabulous 3 course meal for 2 today with drinks and coffee in wonderful surroundings. Served by very attentive and friendly staff. Atmosphere was lovely and easy going laid back ambience was a joy. No rushing around feeling obliged to finish courses quickly. We will definitely be back. Highly recommended. Top class restaurant and hotel. Food was exceptional and great value. Thank you
