Our server Taylor was great! It was our first time there and we tried many items on the Happy Hour menu. All were good. Croquette-like takoyaki had gravy and octopus which was our least favorite. Glad we got the last bottle of Sonryu Nigori. I enjoyed the honey-miso eggplant. Tried the Aburi Toro and Tonkatsu Ramen at Taylor’s recommendation. What Tim Meuter dislikes about Ototo:
We eat at Ototo quarterly, but after this time we are in no hurry to return. The miso eggplant and the black cod are still sublime, but the sushi and various rolls were nothing special, although they were priced that way. The Donburi was light on flavor and very heavy on rice. Service was indifferent, and the seating is too tight. I’m sorry, but you’re strangling the golden goose. View all feedback.
EXCELLENT! Some of the small plates reminds me of my grandmother and mother's cooking when I was little.
I'm not a fan of sushi or raw fish, so Japanese restaurants rarely make it onto my radar.
