**Restaurant Review: A Mixed Bag Experience** This new eatery, reminiscent of Zio Johno's, has drawn mixed reactions from diners. While some praised the crispy fried zucchini and generous portion sizes, others lamented inaccurate orders and bland sauces, particularly the Alfredo. Customer service appears inconsistent, with several patrons reporting rude interactions and a general feeling of disregard. Despite its cute atmosphere and an appealing ice cream bar, many guests feel that the restaurant falls short of expectations. The consensus suggests it may neither capture the essence of an authentic Italian dining experience nor offer the quality diners seek, leaving room for improvement.
It usually takes a lot for me to leave a negative review, but the quality at Via Sofia's has really dropped, and tonight was the worst experience yet. I ordered half a gallon of spaghetti with meat sauce, half a gallon of cheese ravioli with marinara, and two loaves of garlic bread. The meat sauce was completely lacking in flavor and didn’t have the classic taste we're familiar with. The marinara was even more disappointing—mostly just onions and watery tomato juice. I ended up picking a mound of onions off my plate. The pasta itself was good, but sauces are what make or break a dish. The garlic bread was just okay and not as good as it used to be. I don’t think I’ll be ordering from this location again; I’ll make the trip out to Marion from now on.
To make matters worse, rather than receiving a warm welcome, I was brusquely asked if my order was for here or to go. The attendant's expression pushed me to opt for takeout. The bread was mediocre—nothing special, just bland. I had to add my own sauces to make it somewhat palatable. Overall, my experience with the gondola and the Turkey Deluxe sandwich was very disappointing. If I could give it zero stars, I would.
I have high standards for Italian cuisine, and this restaurant met every one of them. The chicken Parmesan was fresh with perfectly crispy breading. The pasta was cooked just right, and the meat sauce was full of delicious flavor.
Messed up my order in multiple ways. Requested to sauce sub fettuccini Alfredo (paid extra) and got a tub of plain noodles. Also request no lettuce on sub and got lettuce. Called in to the store and the young lady offered no help, and talked to me as if Iwas stupid.
I wanna like them more, but I just didn't like the chalky or like, sand like texture of the Alfredo sauce,it happens alot of places, one thing that I loved was their fried zucchini because it was actually sliced discs, they were pretty fresh juicy warmand the outside batter was crunchy. but inside the restaurant it is very chill and cute I bet there are more good food items, they even have a little ice cream bar, which I adored
