Was Anonym at Sofreh a mag?
I absolutely love Sofreh! Our waitress was incredibly kind, and the hostess was wonderful too. The entire experience was definitely worth the wait for a reservation. The eggplant and yogurt dip truly stood out – we're usually not fans of eggplant, but this was delicious! The feta flatbread was good, though I wouldn't call it a must-try. We ordered the half hen and the ribeye kebab, and the ribeye was undoubtedly the... View all feedback.
What Jaye Aster Broder dislikes about Sofreh:
One of the hottest restaurants in Brooklyn, and we got a reservation. I thought maybe my expectation was too hight, but everyone was not too impressed. I had much better Persian Iranian food. There was certainly something wrong with the service. They looked like they just had a big fight. This affected our dinner experience. If you really want to try it, I’d recommend the lamb shank. The lebanese wine is really good,... View all feedback.
The food was absolutely incredible—everything we ordered was delicious. The flavors were perfectly balanced, and you could really appreciate the effort put into making each dish special. We also had a wonderful conversation with the charming owner and chef, who took the time to explain our selections and their flavor profiles (I may have told her she’s a genius at least four times!). It was a truly outstanding experience. They change the menu with the seasons, so I can’t wait to return in the spring. We didn’t even get a chance to look at the dessert menu, but that saffron ice cream is definitely calling my name!
This place was bustling with energy! I can only imagine how it was before the pandemic. Unfortunately, we couldn't get a reservation or a table, so we ended up sitting at the bar. As for the food, it was amazing! We ordered the eggplant appetizer, lamb, and duck for our main course, accompanied by saffron rice, and we finished with an ice cream sandwich for dessert. Everything was packed with flavor and very satisfying. The lamb was incredibly tender; it practically fell off the bone.
This place is incredible! We highly recommend making reservations, as it always attracts a good crowd. The food is not only delicious but also beautifully presented, with a wonderful balance of subtle and robust flavors. You’ll be treated to a delightful experience with a variety of tastes. We tried the half chicken, steak, and lamb—each dish was bursting with flavor. The meat was incredibly tender and juicy, practically melting in your mouth. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and offered excellent recommendations. If you're looking for something unique yet comforting, this is the perfect spot. The owner was present and took the time to chat with us; he was very friendly and genuinely wanted everyone to have an enjoyable experience.
I celebrated my birthday at Sofreh this year and I was so incredibly blown away. Living in nyc it’s very difficult to find authentic amazing Iranian food. I love the bathroom of course, couldn’t be more iconic. Definitely want to go back and try more menu items. Ended up buying the cook book from the chef. Let’s see if I can make dishes as amazing. Love this place! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
Service was very helpful and accommodating thanks to Caitlin ! Backyard seating was great and space inside was pretty too. We were group of 3 and ordered a bunch of apps because my friends are vegetarian so missed out on the more popular meat dishes, but next time I guess. I would definitely recommend this place for drinks: « sekanjabin martini » was very refreshing and I liked the mint cucumber sharbat as well. Food: 3 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
