In the Gabba precinct this is a great new addition to the area. Nice fit out, relaxed and flexible menu. Good wine list with options by the glass and a few quirks to add interest. Food is for sharing and we enjoyed it all. Professional and friendly service too... Will be back!
It's been some years since my last "foodie" group outing in Brisbane, and the scene here has changed somewhat with more variety and budget options. My friend's had choosen Detour as our venue. Not sure what category it actually classify as, but to me it feeds like a hipster bar meets Mod Oz fusion. Interesting cocktail selections, and the staff were quick with taking those. It was a shared plate menu, what impressed the most wasn't some of the more exotic ingredients or combos (black ants, emu), but the fact they offer both a meat & a vegetarian menu of equal length. Being a big group we ordered about 3/4 of the menu. My favs for the night were the Gunpowder Salmon with the green curry & black ants (salmon nice & soft, curry subtle but a good note of spice, black ants were just crunchy), and Cauliflower with cashew curry & lentil (a head of cauliflower roasted, then topped with the curry sauce). The rest of the table also enjoyed the wagyu, but I thought it was a bit dry. The prettiest dish was the Hawaiian curry with a great floral & colourful palette. The service was good, and it was reasonably busy for a week night. Overall a great night out.

I tried the beetroot tartare and the charcoal broccoli, and both were delicious. The menu options were a bit limited, and the herbivore menu seemed more like side dishes for the omnivore menu rather than a distinct vegan menu. The dishes were all vegetable-based, with no beans, tofu, seitan, etc.
