The food was outstanding. It's a cozy restaurant with very friendly kitchen staff who offer a well-thought-out menu. Every dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. The only downside was the drinks; I had the wine pairing and often found myself with an empty glass, waiting for the next pour. What User dislikes about Maos:
This place deserves more than a 4.4 rating. Those who leave one-star reviews clearly lack an appreciation for food and creativity. Yes, the service took a while, but it was evident they were dealing with challenges. Most of the dishes were incredibly technical and creative, yet still exceptionally tasty. The flavor combinations were unexpected, but somehow they worked beautifully together. The lobster tail with foie... View all feedback.
Providing either more glasses or slightly larger portions would create a more enjoyable experience and allow guests to appreciate their meal to the fullest. Despite this, I’ve still rated it 5 stars because this meal ranks among the best I've ever had.
Excellent birthday meal. they enjoy eating and the wine pairing and an unforgettable evening overall. many thanks to the chef eduardo, who draws on his roots and the wonderful kitchen staff. we're coming back! (P.s I was first disturbed by the post lockdown negative reviews on google, but so glad I didn't take them into account. that is definitiw fat duck league)
What an experience! Definitely a dinner to remember. Throughout the evening (and we've been there for nearly 5 hours! you're free to wander around: see how chefs are carefully crafting your dishes in the kitchen explaining every detail from origin of produce to cooking techniques, chat to sommelier in wine cellar, or meet fellow 14 guests in a small yet cosy dining room with a shared table. It doesn't get more immersive. A tasting menu of 15 dishes is impressive and has some ingredients which you wouldn't think go together before you try: from flavoursome wagyu beef with shellfish sauce to a dessert of celeriac, shaved truffle and jam, not to mention ice cream infused with cherry seeds that makes it taste very chocolate-y. Each member of staff is extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic, very approachable, polite and friendly, all making your experience truly personal. Thank you so much!
Amazing fine dining experience in a very cozy and casual environment. Guests were encouraged to roam around and explore their wine room (with amazing selection) and the kitchen area where you can interact personally with the chefs. The food was absolutely incredible. Top quality ingredients were used in every dish where as other usual restaurants may only use them in only 30% of the entire menu. It is my third time at Maos and chef Edoardo continues to show his cooking technique has no boundaries. Definitely the place to be in London and you will not regret it!
Amazing dining experience where you get to appreciate the process as well as the taste. This is not your traditional sit down dinner and the food is not starter main dessert bill style. Think small tastings of different ingredients and cooking methods that just keep coming and get more and more interesting. Service is exceptional and you are in the presence of culinary geniuses.
