My boyfriend and I have been traveling in the UK and Europe over the past couple of months and Oak has been one of our favorite restaurants yet. All of the plates we had were absolutely delicious with unique flavor combinations coming through. The chickpea fries were top-tier! View all feedback.
The most refined vegetarian cuisine I enjoyed. the presentation, the aromen and the love for the detail rival meals we have eaten in some of the best restaurants around the world. it was really a cut over any vegetarian restaurant. the service was attentive, but not intrusive. In general, he exceeded expectations in all points. the only negatiw was that the meal took quite a long time to close, about an hour and 20 minutes with dessert, to midday, so that those in a tight schedule choose to block some extra time. only one block from the Roman baths on a quiet place, it is conveniently located.
Our guide recommended acorn as a vegetarian option for lunch. I was really interested in tasting the food, although I am not vegetarian. we ordered the 2-course-prix-fix lunch and were able to taste the dishes. we enjoyed the wild garlic and swirl soup and the wye valley spade.
We really enjoyed our meal here. It's a little gem tucked away in an alley off the abbey. They make great use of textures and flavors--the lemon gel and foam made such a great accent I was still thinking about it the next day.
I was recommended this place by a friend who took her parents to here for a graduation dinner. Weirdly ad a result I expected it to be a bit posh and was worried that turning up in shorts, a t-shirt and trainers would not be suitable but it is not that kind of establishment which I was grateful for. The staff are really friendly and I think offered me the only table left as everything else had been reserved. The server explained the menu and I asked for any recommendations some of which I ended up ordering. It's very much a sharing plates kind of restaurant. So order 2-3 per person and if there's enough of you just order one of everything so that you get to go through the menu. I ordered the beetroot tartare, Jersey potatoes and the charred courgettes. The latter two were recommended the former I wanted to try. I can say that rhe beetroot tartare was my least favourite. It comes with a smoked almond cream and the smokiness is overbearing at least for my liking. I lived the Jersey potatoes and the charred courgettes both if which I'd happily order again. If I'm ever in Bath again I will be paying a visit.
We were looking for a light bite, and stumbled across Oak. I’ve never been to a vegetarian restaurant before and only went here by accident but what a result. The flavours, textures and choice along with the excellent selection of wines, blew my mind. If you enjoy food, then I’d recommend in a heartbeat.
