Was Anonym at Salt Time a mag?
My friend and I celebrated our first anniversary and had a wonderful evening at Salt Time. The charcuterie board was excellent and showcased what the restaurant does best, all at a very reasonable price. Both of our courses were superb and arrived quickly, just as we finished our first appetizer. We were pleasantly surprised when the kitchen sent us a complimentary dessert along with two glasses of champagne to celeb... View all feedback.
What Anonym dislikes about Salt Time:
The standout of the meal was definitely the chicken mousse, which was divinely silky and smooth. The pickle plate was quite heavy-handed and would benefit from a bit more variety in fermentation techniques to make it more intriguing. Additionally, the waiting staff could take a little more time to explain the dishes, especially the seasonal options like the pickle plate. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience with s... We were expecting to have sandwiches when we went here but realized the dinner menu did not include their sandwiches as an option. Our entire party ordered the burger. While the meat was juicy it felt like it was missing something as it was only meat and cheese. Their fries were just okay and the homemade ketchup tasted more like marinera sauce. Service was fine and ambiance was super casual. I might come back here for lunch but probably not for dinner anytime soon.
Had to switch gears when wait at another restaurant was 2 hours long so we went to Salt Time which I 've heard good things about. The menu looked promising, and the impressive butchery area we waited in prior to being seated was impressive. The food, however, was not. A nice cheese and salami board started the meal off well, offering house cured meats and a nice selection of cheeses. For mains, a friend ordered Cassoulet which we were both excited about only to find it was a very non traditional version with Chinese 5 spice duck confit (which was prepared well) and pinto beans where the cumin flavor was overwhelming. Taking a French comfort food, complex dish like Cassoulet and putting a southern/asian spin on it didn 't do it for me and my chef trained friend thought it didn 't work as well. I ordered the 16oz Bavette Akaushi beef filet which was cooked well (medium) but served with a miniscule amount of the veggie accompaniments buried underneath the large filet I almost didn 't notice them. I also ordered a side of the candied baby carrots with lardo, which were still hard and crunchy when they came out although the flavor on them was nice. It was a very underwhelming performance overall. To top it off, my partner ordered the market salad which she was asked if she wanted first (as she was sharing the steak with me) and she said she would. It never arrived and it was taken off the bill. The server was chatty and engaged, but didn 't really check in or attend to the table as needed. Another off note was the server offering a last glass of a bottle of wine we just finished as there were no more bottles to purchase. Two friends split the glass, but when it got to the table it was clear from the mildew y nose and taste that it was a completely different wine. When it was pointed out to the waiter, he agreed and removed it from the bill, but it was just an odd situation of offering one wine and getting another.
Had the steak salad and I was in heaven eating it. The quality of the hangar steak plus being cooked to perfection was a delight. Also had a few old fashions which didn’t disappoint. Staff was great and ambiance was in point. Will be returningsoon.
Well I have to say this was an experience. You know how you know when something is an epic fail? Well this was. I have to give you some advice and a heads up with this place.. 1. Don't go before 4pm if you want an early dinner. They do have happy hourmenu but they don't serve dinner until 5pm. It was an interesting place that seems to have an identity crises. The manager walksaround sucking on a water bottle but does not come over to see how things are going. When Susie told him about our order issueshe never once came over to see what the issues where. 2. Order the beef fat fries which are the best thing on the menu. Sodelicious!! 3. Don't be in a hurry to eat..we ordered at 5pm but did not get our food for over 45 min. 4. Susie who was thehostess ended up helping us because the waitress who was supposed to serve us ignored us. Susie was sweet and very nice. (Mindyou there were people at the bar but we were the only table seated at the time. She is the blonde lady in the picture) so notbusy. 5. If you don't drink ask for ice for your water. We received a bottle of warm water. You need to ask for ice. Now on tothe food..ask a lot of questions because the menu does not give you any details of what they do to your steak or veggies. Weordered Angus Bavette medium and Wagyu Ambassador medium rare. Mine came with a thick burnt salt on top and it was Luke warm, myhusband's was burnt and also lukewarm and he ordered it medium rare. (See pictures) when you cut off the edge it tasted okay. Also the menu for the steak is only for steak it does not come with sides. My husband got the fried okra (see picture) this wasnot fried..maybe pan seared but floppy and was the only thing that was hot but definitely not fried. It was not good. Susie wassweet and took it off our bill. Okay aside from all that here is my last warning...they tack on a 15% service charge so theycan pay their employees a living wage (which in turn they pass onto you). Now that is not the tip a
