my class: ki had a great experience! the e. hampden store in aurora is a great location. the load was clean and well maintained. the donuts were fresh, soft and delicious! I ordered more than I had, but it's worth it. the prices were reasonable. the owner was pleasant and welcoming. I should start with... I love Winchell's. On this particular visit, I went with a business proposal for the owner. It's not that he decided not to do business with me but that he (employee and the owners soon I believe) was flat out rude, dismissive, and actually rolled his eye at me when i had to flag him down to order a dozen donuts. My son requested donuts instead of a traditional birthday cake, and while Winchell's didn't have vegan options at the time, they mentioned that vegan donuts are in the works. In the meantime, they were able to create a special birthday donut arrangement called the 'Casey 12' for us, which I paired with some homemade vegan cake donuts. The birthday donuts were delicious, and the ordering and pickup process was easy. I look forward to the vegan options being available so that everyone can enjoy them together in the future. The strawberry donuts were particularly fruity and tasty.
I found this donut shop on Google while searching for nearby options and despite it being a bit of a detour, I was glad I made the trip. The shop is located in a shopping center, facing the main street, and while the exterior could use a little sprucing up, the friendly service and tasty treats make up for it. The staff welcomed me with positive attitudes, and the interior had a nostalgic feel, with a small seating area for customers. They offered a good variety of classic and specialty donuts, all of which were fresh and flavorful. I particularly enjoyed the slightly chewy texture of the yeast raised donuts, and the generous amount of cinnamon in the cinnamon roll. The coffee was also hot and delicious, staying warm for a long time. Overall, this well-managed establishment is worth a visit, even if it requires a little extra effort to get there. Winchell's is amazing. I'm from California where they have a ton of great donut shops. When I moved to Colorado I was disappointed in the lack of great donuts. I was so happy to discover a Winchell's! I've eaten here since I was a kid. They not only have donuts but bagels, burritos and breakfast sandwiches
All we wanted were lemon filled donuts but they had just sold out... But, then the friendly guy in his small way made my girlfriends day and injected a regular one with lemon and it was amazing! It's the small acts . Thank you!
