We returned after years in this family osmiza, located in Santa Croce, on the way (path no. 1) that from the village leads towards Prosecco; cottage with a series of benches and tables divided between the house garden and the garage. Typical foods are offered in osmize: meats, some cheese, boiled eggs, pickled/soils, all produced “in the house” or in the immediate vicinity, a kilometer “almost 0”; the food is a good pretext to taste the house wine, offered in bottle (Malvazjia, Vitovska) or disused in the form of grapes. You queue in the garage, ordering food and withdrawing drinks, and you sit at the table (recommended booking) to wait for your order. We have tasted a mixture of everything proposed, drinking the Malvazjia/Vitovska, and ending with a slice of strudel, I think done in the house. Good quality, fast and kind service, prices contained.

The have their own brewery and serve two types of beer (the red one is a bit flat of taste, the lighter one I likes a lot more). Other drinks are: water I guess. They also have their own fish farm, and serve the salmon from this fish farm…every now and then there is sturgeon on the menu. We were there for diner and the quality of the dishes is good, well prepared and all, but I need to say: when it’s only salmon and beer: you might want to make the dishes a bit more exciting…flavors were stacking up now and there was no real excitement. Beside that: friendly people and had a lovely meal. Would come back!

I went after dinner wi... read more I was recommended to go here to drink wine by the father in a family run restaurant (santé , who has lived in Trieste since he was young. I went after dinner with my girlfriend and was greeted by a friendly young woman with a passion for wine I can safely say this is one of the best wine bars I have ever visited as a Brit abroad, stellar wine definitely ask for their recommendations as they know best. We fell in love with their 2015 T.Dettori Ottomarzo. Not to mention, the bar itself has a great atmosphere with dim lighting and cellar style interior. Thank you for a wonderful time!

The portions are very generous, we took a plate with mixed cold cuts, some pimples and frico (yum! and ever a first course, there was absolutely no room for anything else. The Tagliatelle with Porcini mushrooms was very good. Honest price. We chose off-menus, but with the menu including the first and second courses we would have spent less. We will definitely be back:
