The welcome we received... read more This restaurant far exceeded our expectations. The first surprise was that it is on the 10th floor and has wonderful views of the city. The welcome we received was pleasant and we were quickly brought our drinks. Without asking, we were given menus in English which was a nice touch. Now to the food...… To start we had chicken strips with a mustard and honey sauce. The chicken strips were good (it is difficult to spoil a chicken strip) but the mustard and honey sauce was to die for...….I just wish there had been more so I could mop it up with the bread. We also had a cod and pepper started which was served with a gazpacho mayonnaise. Again, as before, the food itself was good but the sauce was sublime! For mains we had the 1/2 sirloin and the beef cheeks both dishes were excellent. Now the dessert...…..we had the strawberry tart with chocolate ice cream which was excellent. But the Fishbowl, apart from being delicious, was a masterpiece it was beautiful to look at! It was almost a shame to eat it. Would I return? Definitely!

An... read more Having read all the excellent reviews we were very disappointed with what we had. We chose the tasting menu at 26€ per person. The food was at best mediocre. And the price of drinks was extortionate.... 2.50€ for a tiny beer. And 4.00€ for a clara. Yes, the clara was organic or something but they should advise that that is what you will get. I order claras to keep the alcohol content down as I was driving but this was stronger than any beer! There are many restaurants in Valencia that serve far better food at half the price. I won't be back.

There were 3 of us an... read more At first, the reason for going to this bar was simply to have a few drinks and watch the sunset. But we decided to have a couple of tapas. There were 3 of us and we ordered the croquettes (5) and the chicken wings (8). As well as being very tasty, the bar increased the number of croquettes to 6 and the chicken wings to 9 so as to make each serving divisible by 3 this was very considerate of them. Azul is not cheap but it is worth the money. I know that we will be returning.

We had the long tasting menu and there wasn't a single element that was below par. Couple the service and the food with the fantastic view over the bay and it was a memorable evening.

The décor itself was very traditional with many signed photos from celebrities. As for the food, it was exceptional. We had the sautéed artichokes and ham croquettes as starters. For mains we had scallops with prawns and the selection of assorted sausages. When I mentioned I didn't like black pudding they happily swapped it for a different sort. All in all, it was a fantastic meal which is the reason for my title to this review. I have read all the reviews in English and most in Spanish and have the following observations: Staff unfriendly not so; on our visit they couldn't have been more helpful. We talked about travel and places to live in Spain. They provided advice on the food and wine and took their time with us. Staff only speak Spanish not so; the person serving us spoke English and French. Poor food not so; the food was fantastic! And they staggered the serving of the starters so we could share without anything getting cold (the portion sizes were generous). Not suitable for locals not so; there were a couple of tables of locals and they all seemed to be having a good time. The restaurant isn't cheap but you get what you pay for and in Meson del Vino you get quality food served in a friendly and professional manner. It was worth every penny!

We had the 30€ menu (per person) which comprised 4 starters to share (smoked salmon and feta cheese salad, ham croquettes, grilled prawns and a leek and foie gras parcel), a main course each (we had the lamb cutlets and the sirloin steak with roquefort sauce), and a dessert each (profiteroles with hot chocolate sauce and cheese cake with a red berry sauce). Everything was freshly cooked and was delicious. In addition, the service was efficient and prompt without being intrusive. We will definitely be returning here.
