Very reasonable spot... read more ... and nice coffees and cappuccinos! A kind of fallen out of time, like tearooms and coffeeshops have been in the seventies and eighties. Very reasonable spot for reading your newspaper or some chapters in your actual book and being served by very friendly young ladies with coffee and sweets or a simple but tasteful meal at lunch time. Whenever I am in Zurich I return to the Avenida and have never been disappointed.

They offer a few sidewalk tables, but there is a bit of traffic at this intersection. Inside, there are mostly small round tables with tablecloths covered by a glass top. On the menu is a light breakfast i.e... Yogurt, muesli, breads, pastries, hot/cold beverages, toast, salads, soups and sandwiches. They offer a set daily lunch time meal specials priced around 16CHF for the veggie selection to approximately 18CHF for the meat/fish option which includes a salad. I ordered a mango tea (5.50CHF) that was all fresh ingredients and spices (not packaged), and the waitress was so nice she even poured it for me! The couple running the place were just so friendly and welcoming upon me entering the café and it made me feel like a regular, appreciated customer. They offer newspapers, free secured Wi-Fi and clean restrooms. Café Avenida is open weekdays 06-18, Saturday 07-17 and closed Sunday and holidays. Definitely will return and recommend!
