Restaurant closed, but another Italian restaurant in it's place serves wonderful food. Many nice tables inside and outside welcome you to a new place here,.
The name of the Italian restaurant at this location is now La Vita e Bella, Ristorante Italiano, Calle (street) Hemegildo Galeana #15 Esquina (on the corner) de Nicolas Bravo, Zihuatanejo, Gro tel: 755-112-21-14New Owners are Italian with their own recipes. It was nice to see the old crew had not lost their jobs. My husband and I had a lovely meal. I ordered the ravioli with ricotta, spinach, butter, sage and parmesan cheese. My husband ordered the lasagna. I had a glass of their premium red Italian wine, which was nice, my husband was able to get a dark beer. Planning on returning because the menu has expanded so there are pastas and appetizers and salads still to be sampled, and the help says the pizzas are larger. I'm also intrigued by their preparation of fish that is Scilian style (think Veracruzana with Mediterranean vegetables.
We were such fans when the cranky Italian man served the most amazing food in Zihuatanejo. It was sold to another Italian, and were we disappointed. Each dish that came out was dry. REALLY dry. The lasagna with bechamel sauce was crispy. Our friend's spaghetti was basically sauceless. When we asked for more sauce, they brought 4 tiny bowls of sauce...and CHARGED us for all the sauce. We had a party of 11, and one of our friends speaks perfect Spanish, so it was not a translation issue. The Italian owner also speaks Spanish, and some English, and didn't offer to fix the situation. This was incredibly disappointing. We had one of the best meals ever last year here, and it's not the same restaurant at all. Had they at least taken off the charges for the sauce, we might have been a bit less angry, but they didn't seem to care.
We had visited this restaurant 4 times in the past two weeks because the food was excellent. Each time we visited we asked for separate checks which they graciously agreed. We went back this week and again asked for separate checks. The very polite and accommodating waiter sheepishly responded that separate checks were not available. We explained that we had received them each of our past 4 visits. When he said no again we asked to speak with the owner who we had previously met. We politely asked him for separate checks and he went off on us screaming that he will fire the waiters from last week that granted us our request and then told us we can have one check and stay or pay for what we ordered and leave. He then began screaming at our waiter in Spanish. We decided to pay and leave. There are over a hundred restaurants in Ixtapa/Zihua begging for your business and are willing to accommodate your wildest request. They deserve your business. Not this man. Beware!!
