Riffelhaus 1853 - Zermatt

The rosti was basically uncooked shredded potatoes from a package and a twice or thrice warmed slice of cheese with an egg on top. And it was all luke warm. The flammenkuech was better but I’m pretty sure the onions were from a jar. These are simple dishes, folks, no excuse those kinds of dishes should be so bad. They clearly have no interest in preparing food. Go here for a coffee only to enjoy the Matterhorn full frontal view from the terrace. Or, if you get there and are hungry like us, have super low expectations and then you maybe won’t be so disappointed.

Took the cogwheel train from Zermatt to Gornergrat early February. We were hiking down during a bad weather and spotted this restaurant. This restaurant was highly recommended, and it had a beautiful view of the area. So glad that we went in to warm up and get out of the storm. Our server was very nice and attentive. The lamb dish that my husband ordered was delicious.

Personal ist zuvorkommend und hilfsbereit Tolle Lage, direkt an der Ski Piste und mit Sicht aufs Matterhorn Zum Abendessen ist das Hotel leider wenig flexibel: entweder man isst um 18:00 Uhr oder um 20:00 Uhr. Zudem gibt es nur zwei Menüs zur Auswahl. Hygiene könnte in meinen Augen besser sein: der Spa Bereich und die Ski Stube sind nicht optimal gereinigt; der Teppichboden im Zimmer hatte mehrere Flecken, und die Stühle und Bänke im Restaurant waren auch nicht wirklich sauber. Das Hotel gibt keine Ermäßigung auf den teuren Ski Pass und auf die genauso teure und zwingende Matterhorn Railway. Das Frühstück endet bereits um 09:00 Uhr, viel zu früh. Gutes Hotel, aber mit 4 Sternen hätte ich mehr erwartet.

Vegi UNFREUNDLICH!! Ich habe extra die Kellnerin informiert, dass ich veg bin und habe eine Flammkuchen bestellt. Es sah super aus, aber dann merkte ich den Speck. Sehr gemütlich eingerichtet und freundliches Personal.

Fantastisch. Sonnenterrasse schön. Personal super und Essen gut. Ein Fund im Vergleich zu einigen der manischen Restaurants in Zermatt
