Not a bad little cafeteria. They do a good job of offering healthy options, with no junky or sugary options. If you are looking for a little dessert, or a candy bar, it can be easily purchased down the hall at the coffee shop. The only annoying thing about this place is the hours. They close between lunch and dinner, and after dinner. What they, perhaps, don't realize is that when you're at the hospital with a loved... View all feedback.
What Robert R doesn't like about St Joe's Market:
Waited way too long for such a lack luster sandwich. The creamy cesar and greek feta side salads tasted like it was fresh from the store. Neither my wife or I could bring ourselves to eat them. We both had the French dip sandwiches. While she enjoyed hers, I found it to be lack luster. Wasn't the worst sandwich by far, but doubtful I will come back by choice. View all feedback.
**JOE'S JAVA:** The coffee here is excellent—my favorite is the mocha with half the syrup; it strikes a great balance of flavor without being overly sweet, allowing the coffee's taste to shine through. They also offer fantastic baked goods, with the muffins being especially noteworthy—the pistachio and chocolate varieties are a must-try! The food selection includes frittatas, oatmeal, and soups. There's a mini mart attached that features refrigerated food options; I particularly enjoy the chicken and beef shawarmas, chicken and egg salad sandwiches, and the fresh salads. You'll also find plenty of snacks like candy, chips, and fruit, along with any toiletries you might have forgotten. However, keep in mind that the hours are somewhat limited. **ST. JOE'S MARKET:** This is a charming little cafeteria that is actually quite underrated. The offerings include freshly rolled sushi, a meal of the day that features delicious carved meats accompanied by well-prepared sides, a fresh grill, a salad bar, soups, and a sandwich-making station where you can get sandwiches made in a Subway-style. My personal favorite is definitely the salad bar. I typically opt for the special of the day, which has featured dishes like Thai shrimp salad (one of the best salads I’ve had in the Ann Arbor area), buffalo chicken salad, steak and horseradish salad, and chicken taco salad. You really can't go wrong with any of the salads, and if a particular option—like the buffalo chicken salad—doesn't appeal to you, you can easily request plain chicken instead. **OVERALL:** The food options here are surprisingly good, especially for a hospital. I appreciate that St. Joe's Ann Arbor makes an effort to provide quality food for both employees and visitors, reflecting their commitment to patient satisfaction. Plus, when I’m feeling too tired (or lazy) to cook at home, I can always count on finding something delicious on my way back.
This cafeteria is quite decent. They do a good job of providing healthy options without any junk food or sugary items. If you're in the mood for a dessert or a candy bar, you can easily grab one at the coffee shop down the hall. However, the most frustrating aspect of this place is its hours. They close between lunch and dinner, as well as after dinner. What they might not realize is that when you're in the hospital with a loved one, your free time doesn't always coincide with typical meal times of noon and 5 PM. You often find yourself needing to go downstairs when you can or when you want a break, only to be disappointed that the cafeteria is closed during those moments.
We waited far too long for a rather disappointing sandwich. The creamy Caesar and Greek feta side salads tasted so store-bought that neither my wife nor I could bring ourselves to eat them. We both ordered French dip sandwiches; while my wife enjoyed hers, I found mine to be underwhelming. It wasn’t the worst sandwich I’ve ever had, but I’m unlikely to return by choice.
