Contribute Feedback What Alex Chavez doesn't like about Mariscos Las Islitas:
This is truly sad. Las Islitas was introduced to me in Las vegas, and let me tell you, it was delicious. They have lots of restaurants, but sadly, not all have or follow the recipe. I will advise you to stay away from this one. The one in merced and modesto, it's expensive and not good. View all feedback.
They say the third time is the charm but in my case that may not happen. For the second time we went to this place and for the second time we came out disappointed. On our first visit we decided to try a seafood soup, but to our surprise we saw that it had everything; potato, carrot, chayote or something like that, in short a lot of vegetables but very little seafood. My wife had to fix as much as possible with sauces and salt on the table so that it could more or less be eaten. Totally tasteless. Now, with everything and that first experience, again and in search of a shrimp cocktail we decided to try with the idea that maybe it was just a bad experience. How wrong we were! They served us the cocktail and when we tried it it only tasted like salt, yes of course, it had shrimp and its ingredients but with absolutely no flavor! They told us that there on the table was everything that was needed to personalize the cocktail. This is the first time I've heard that, to my surprise. Horchata water is simply bad. I was expecting a tasty water, made from rice as we all know it, but that was made of powder and, due to its flavor, the most common. The price . In other places you wouldn't expect to spend a lot for that consumption, but here they stain badly. Very expensive, I would say excessive for having a bad time with their food. Maybe, as their name says, they believe they are the last island in the ocean ?. In my case I think I have learned from these two cases and know that there will not be a third.
I got the camarones a la plancha and let me tell youuuuuu...YUMMMMM!!! I visited for mother's day to celebrate with family they all were wanting my shrimp. The taste was serious delicious! This was my first time coming to this place, before this I didn't even know it was here and I'm from Madera. I did expect our bill to be high as any seafood place is expensive. Our bill for 4 came out to $100 change. My husband got the carne asada plate to be safe, our 10 year old son got the kids menu burger with fries, our 9 year old daughter got the kids menu nuggets fries. He nuggets were dino nuggets lol. She loved that they were dino nuggets so we were happy. Sadly the fountain drinks weren't avail when we went. They did have Jarritos, aguas frescas (horchata jamaica), lemonade, water alcoholic drinks avail. They have a jukebox on a wall for music choice. They seated us on a table for 11 people. They give you chips salsa when you 1st get there. The salsa was good. The waitress we had was okay, we kept having to call her over. They have 2 TVs playing, 1 had soccer playing the 2nd was news. Kid-friendliness: They do have a small menu selection for kids. High chairs available.
The food is excellent and the friendliness is very good
Not bad, not good: I didn't like it because they told me that the molcajete doesn't have chili, that the meals there don't have chili and less spicy, but I told them that my food had to be spicy because it's something that I like, so it's better order an order of fajitas
