What User doesn't like about Papa Chang's:
The food is affordable and delivered quickly at this restaurant. While the quality could be improved for better taste, the price and convenience make up for it. I usually order the popcorn chicken bowl, which comes with a generous portion of chicken and rice...and some sides. The tofu, pickled vegetables, and fish ball sides are not exceptional. The seating is limited and cramped, so it may not be the most comfortabl... View all feedback.
I went there with a friend who recommended it. I like Taiwanese food, I have been to Taipei 3x and have enjoyed a number of night markets there (and daytime food stands... with the exception of the stinky tofu I like Taiwanese food in general). The soup was ok. I guess I was expecting a lot more in terms of flavour. We ordered two appetizers to go with it... a plate of squid balls that was ok, and a plate of skewered chicken (breaded, with some special sauces dripped on them) that were Delicious. It is cheap, not fancy... go there with low expectations and work your way through the menu. I noticed though it was a weeknight, that it filled up by 7pm and there was a flow of folks ordering takeout as well. The entire time we dined, I noticed I was the only non-asian there - which in my books is a very good thing :) I think I would increase the rating when I discover more dishes I am really excited about. Will bring my asian wife next time, she'll pick off good things I am sure. Cheap eats. Relax, bring kids or a friend. Parking is ok... NW corner of 16th and hw48 (main street markham)
I came in for the taiwanese popcorn chicken that a friend had bought for me before. My order was ready in 5 minutes and the chicken was flavorful and incredibly moist and tender. I can't even describe what it tastes like- it's just a really delicious savory flavor. I gave some to some friends at work and everybody was crazy about it. Next time I will try some more of their dishes - definitely check it out if you have the opportunity
This is a small taiwanese restaurant, nothing fancy, but the food is good, taste different then cantonese food, we enjoy it and price is reasonable. no harm to try.
So we happened to be out in the sticks and hungry (after checking out the first day of Bruce's Mill Maple Syrup Festival - which was all kinds of awesome), so I pulled out my phone to see what my fellow Yelpers had to say. I yelled "STOP! Turn in here!" We pulled up to a little plaza and parked near Papa Chang's. There was a line up of a few people (a good sign) and we were the only caucasians (also a good sign)! The staff were super helpful and friendly - great communication - we only had to wait maybe 3 minutes and the constant communication by the staff made it feel like 30 seconds. This place is tiny - so don't bring a big group. It's clean, bright and bustling. Every single dish coming out of the kitchen looks and smells delish. They advertise as "Asian Fusion" but what I liked about it was the the dishes (to my knowledge) didn't seem fusion - just that the restaurant makes Taiwanese and Japanese dishes. We had the Pork Thick Soup, Popcorn Chicken Bento,Takoyaki, Green Onion Fried Cake and I think an order of meat skewers. Everything was great! The portions aren't huge but the prices are good and this way you can order lots for cheap! I wish we'd ordered the Taiwanese Sausage and Minced Pork with Rice - it seemed that a LOT of people were ordering it. Also the kind of bubble teas looked great, but I was told by the staff that unfortunately they didn't have any soy/rice milks so I had to pass on them. They were popular too. The only thing that this place would need to do to make it 5 star would be to expand into a larger space. Great food! Great Service! Great Price! Love this place. Will definitely go back!
Went to Pa Pa Chang's at 3PM on a Wednesday afternoon, and the restaurant had stead flow of people dining in and getting take-out. The restaurant itself is quite small, but adequate for a quick lunch spot. The service was great. The menu is quite big! It has traditional Taiwanese snacks, as well as larger rice, noodles, and bento meals. Try the signature beef noodle soup. It's delicious! The noodles are a great texture, thin, and flat. The beef and broth is flavorful. It also has some some bok choy, and pickled vegetables. I'll definitely go back and try their popcorn chicken, and other Taiwanese snacks.
