What User doesn't like about Com Tam 168:
We frequently visit this restaurant because the food is excellent. However, a negative aspect is when the waitress aggressively asks children for tips. Tipping should be optional, so it's off-putting when they expect it. View all feedback.
This Vietnamese restaurant offers a variety of traditional dishes such as shredded mango salad, summer rolls, sour soup, BBQ chicken, pork chop, and Vietnamese coffee with condensed milk. The food is fresh and delicious, made to order. The service is average, with wait staff speaking Mandarin Chinese. The chef and kitchen staff clearly understand Vietnamese cuisine, as seen in the presentation and quality of the ingredients. Special dishes like summer rolls are unique to this restaurant. The restaurant is located in a strip mall with plenty of free parking, near the busy Pacific Mall. It is a great choice for dining in the area without having to drive to Mississauga for Vietnamese food. The reviewer recommends returning to dine at this restaurant on their next visit.
One of the few classic, full-service Vietnamese restaurants serving an excellent shredded mango salad or, "Goi Ga" as a colorful starter, unique summer (rice skin) rolls with meat, sour soup w. shrimp & pineapples & vegetables on a chilly day, Banh Hoi (or thin vermicelli) w. BBQ chicken & pork w. rice noodles & lettuce as wraps, Com Tam or pork chop triple treasure special on rice, and, of course, Ca Fe Sua Da (iced French-Viet coffee w. condensed milk) and Tri-Color Jello & Sweet Beans in chopped ice. All of them fresh & tasty, prepared to order (don't forget to wash your hand clean before eating - dig in with both hands, finger-licking good).Service is just average, wait staff spoke Mandarian Chinese & not sure if they even understood Vietnamese (according to SIL's) but chef/kitchen staff & owner clearly are - as you could tell from the presentation ingredients used & condiments/trimmings served that they knew what they are doing. Special summer rolls we ordered aren't served at the average VN food places and the "broken" or loose VN white rice are difficult to cook & expensive per serving, as many would substitute ordinary rice instead as the average eating crowds usually don't easily spot the difference. There are also Thai & vegetarian dishes for those in a larger group that are vegan. Situated in the strip mall with plentiful shared & free parking, directly facing/opposite the busy multi-story Pacific Mall - we ate our shares of great VN food and left with a full & happily satisfied stomach, prompting us to work the mall to get some exercise ... by shopping, again - a great choice to dine while visiting & staying in this area instead of dealing Toronto's freeway traffic to drive west to Mississauga, ON where VN food are supposed to be excellent with plenty of choices. Recomended & we will go back to dine again on our next visit when in this area.
