Worth the hype! Watched this little spot gain fame on a Facebook hoagie group. When we found ourselves nearby, we had to give it a shot. Split a cheesesteak which was great and got cold subs to take with us to Williams grove later that day. S.O. chatted with the friendly staff about how far we traveled and got a good laugh about that. It located in a “food hall” in a historic building. Parking nearby in a garage was... View all feedback.
What William Kulp doesn't like about Hefty Lefty's Hoagies And Grinders:
My Balboa hoagie was big enough to serve as a doorstop. Too much meat but not enough of anything else made it unbalanced and frankly awful. I ordered it “Lefty’s way” but barely tasted any of the oil vinegar, oregano or sweet peppers. Bread was nice and fresh but too many sesame seeds. I’m stunned that this is supposed to be great Philadelphia-style bread. I’ve had better hoagies on better bread at Wa Wa. View all feedback.
Best sub we've ever had. Staff was amazingly friendly and professional, even with a line of customers. Highly recommend checking it out for yourself. My husband and I got the Balboa and the Flying Pig. DELICIOUS!
Pumped up from reviews but fell short due to insanely SOGGY, dripping liquid where sub fell apart in 30 seconds n just became a slop mess. The pic of the su : Staff super friendly, menu and prices good, dining area nice and clean, fries tasty but portion HALF of what we were told as a large shpuld have). Shortfalls: theres no sign saying the cold cut type subs order at the end and steak/cheese is ordered at register. We waited at the wrong line for a while... We ordered and ate our 2 steak cheeses in at the location. Rolls were amazing but BOTH of our subs didnt last 30 seconds when we took em out and literally all fell apart in our hands. So much so, COULDN'T even eat it as a sub as the rolls were way too soggy!! Ended up just eating w/a fork and the bread turned to gooey mush. The sweet peppers on mine were on half the sub only. The taste was decent but meat, peppers, mayo etc all muddled.. : On a side note, best tasting tomatoes Ive ever had lol. WOW! Deep dark red, perfect ripe, sweet n beefy too. Place had so much potential but just fell short sadly.
I ate at Hefty Lefty’s for lunch today. The cheesesteak was the best I ever had. This place is legit, the real deal, very busy, lots of locals. Believe the hype, this place is great!
Inside the York Market building. Sandwich was amazing. Roll was delish, meat packed in and very good quality. We are looking forward to going back again.
The subs here are enormous, and you'll definitely need utensils to enjoy them! The Balboa hoagie is a must-try. However, the atmosphere in the marketplace felt quite gloomy.
