While some diners have experienced issues with overcooked or bland dishes, the friendly staff and ample serving sizes make it a popular choice for many. Despite some inconsistencies in food quality and service, the carvery remains a favorite spot for those looking for a hearty meal. Special mention goes to Michael, the carver at the York location, who provides exceptional customer service and adds to the overall dining experience for patrons of all ages.
Very pleasant staff. After we were shown on our table, we were directed to the food. An employee supported my mother who has a mobility problem. In filling her plate, then take it back to her table.
Michael, who carved the meat at Hopgrove in York, had excellent people's skills that really interact with all ages. He made the evening so much more pleasant.
Eat as usual. We booked as if it were Easter Sunday. We were disappointed to keep quiet for age. No real point when booking.
The choice of vegetables was poor and the cauliflower and the leeks (in the leek and potato) were very tough. Everything else was up to standard
Had the carvery. Generous portion of roast beef (XL meal) cooked to perfection. Roast spuds ok, puddings a bit tasteless not like my mums. The veg was poor, overcooked and only lukewarm. Would like to have had lamb, but they only serve this on Sunday why? Would like to had a cask real ale, but they have nothad any sincecovid? No guiness no coors, but beer in bottles. Had water. We booked a table, and pleasant staff looked after us. Was quite busy but we had an acceptable meal.
