We ignored several recent negative reviews and went to have a dinner on Aug 14, 2022. It was a mistake. We should have trusted those reviews. We live in the US and are quite familiar with roast beef. Well, here we were given the worst roasted beef of our life. Simply unchewable (yes, we do have all our teeth). No taste. The only possible reason for that: bad meat. Today, this was excellent lunch. chicken fingers were a perfect choice and the beer was just right. the bar staff was very friendly and patient with two Americans. highly recommended!
Best night in york! we found this pub after a terrible experience at the lamb and lions next door. Live music from the threesome and an amazing atmosphere! very cheap drinks! we had the best night here!
That is one of the best alcohols in york. I'll come every time I come to visit. it has a lot of history, a great atmosphere and decent grub. the personal is nice and there is always a type of feature night. Thursday is Quiz night, that's my favorite. there is also a fizz and steak night. cooler place to visit. love it.
Not being able to travel for nearly three years due to the pandemic, a lunch at the Hole in the Wall has been what we've missed the most. But now we're finally back in our favourite pub in York if not the entire UK. Good food, friendly staff and just the perfect authentic English pub experience. Definitely recommended a visit!
Called in on way back to out hotel. Hubster had whiskey and I have coffee. We had the cake to share. Loads we've tried over the decades, lol, have been uber sickly sweet. But this one's lovely. The vanilla ice cream seemed to be home made and fab.
