What User dislikes about Spring Espresso:
Easily the best coffee in York in my opinion. The traybakes aren't half bad either. This place is never empty but the service is always fairly quick and friendly. It's a bit small inside but there are a few couches and a nice cosy atmosphere. View all feedback.

Amazing French toast , by far the best I have had .coffee was really nice too
The best coffee I had in York (on day 3! very friendly- would definitely recommend.
We had a fabulous breakfast Bircher here, with a good coffee. I would love to go back. Breakfasts looked good as did everything I saw come out from the kitchens.
Incredible breakfast!! Well worth the money, great staff, exceptional food. Possibly my favourite place in York for a quick bite, breakfast or lunch
Nice coffee and hot chocolate. Beautiful croissant
Spring Espresso in York offers the best coffee in town, with delicious traybakes and friendly service. The small, cozy atmosphere is a hit with customers, despite some negative experiences with the bacon sandwich and the manager's unprofessional behavior. However, most reviews rave about the excellent coffee quality, variety, and latte art skills of the baristas. Regular customers praise the fantastic staff and recommend Spring Espresso for a great coffee experience. The cafe's serene environment, prompt service, and delightful pastries have left a lasting impression on many visitors, making it a must-visit spot for coffee lovers in York.

We were looking for a nice place for a couples breakfast and left disappointed, with a foul taste. First of all the coffee was cloudy and had bits floating in the top of the drink. Secondly after ordering a variety of dishes from the menu, the eggs avocado arrived. The avocado was hard and bitter. The poached eggs on all dishes were raw and had snotty whites. The sourdough was burnt and stale. Overall the food was served cold and was not enjoyable. The service was next to nothing, no one checked back to see how the food was. I do not recommend.
Great little cafe nice coffee, good cake! And great brunch worth a visit Friendly service and not overpriced. Nice to visit an independent
Called in as we were passing very helpful and friendly staff making superb coffee. Small and welcoming lovely, refreshing drink. Great atmosphere.
Great coffee and breakfast. Chilled/relaxing ambience. Nice street. Friendly staff. Can't think of more to say.....
My friend and I popped in here after having an awful breakfast coffee elsewhere a few hours earlier. The staff were lovely and the coffee was one of the nicest that I had on this break to York. I would highly recommend it.

Came across Spring Espresso after looking for somewhere to have a drink, as it was pouring it down. Nice layout and wasn't too busy when we went in, managed to get near the window which was a great spot to people-watch. I didn't have anything to eat, so I cannot comment on that part. But it seems like a great place to relax and catch up with friends, or simply take the weight off your feet a little, as you watch the world go by.
Spring is our go to coffee shop in York. The food is lovely we had brunch sausage sandwich and bacon sandwich. The coffee is so well made nice beans, well extracted overall excellent. They have expanded the seating area into the adjoining premises....so getting a table may be easier. A go to place in York.
I never write reviews, but my experience here was very important to me. I stopped into Spring Espresso with my mom on our way out of York for a quick coffee and pastry for takeaway a few days ago. My cappuccino was great, but the croissant was so amazing I haven’t stopped thinking about it! It was the butteriest, flakiest, most delightful treat. Eating this croissant felt so luxurious, even though I had to eat it in the car and made a mess. The bottom part was crunchy, crispy, and melted in my mouth. I feel like I can still taste it. I really believe this was the best butter croissant I’ve had. My mom ordered the almond croissant and said it was the best she’s had too! It was such an unexpected surprise and I will never forget it. Thank you!!!
There are but a handful of places in Yorkshire where you can get a decent cappuccino and this is one of them. A proper Italian style cappuccino, not the usual swimming pool of milk that Brits are addicted to. And the amazing flapjack was, well, amazing! (The Bakewell was pretty good as well). Highly recommended.
4 of us for breakfast/brunch. Pancakes themselves were good, and very tasty, but would you consider making an option for a smaller portion size and reduce cost down accordingly from £9.50 price tag? This may make a nice addition to the menu. Chef's poached eggs, were hard cooked in the middle, there was zero runny yolk. Sourdough toast part was nice. Service itself was very slow, had to find our own menus to provide to our table, waiting to order was slow and another 25 minutes to wait for food to be delivered to us. The tea and coffee we ordered arrived about 5-8 minutes after ordering and was drunk and cold long before any food arrived. Had high hopes, for a lovely breakfast, It almost was.... sorry Spring Espresso, your exterior and menu was so promising...sadly you need to up your game on the poached eggs and portion size options on this one. We paid £48.20 for 3 x pancakes, 1 x poached eggs on toast, 2 x OJ (admittedly fresh and decent portion), 1 flat white, and 1 x tea

I have visited this restaurant three times this week. The coffee is the best in York and the cake is excellent. Tracy, Steve, and the team are fantastic. I highly recommend this place!
Simply smashing. On the ball, but not at all pretentious with it and they have some great ideas for the future. Great choice of beans- Square Mile...
Great staff, great coffee. Pour over (V60) was bright and fruity and my better half really enjoyed her flat white. Beans from Square Mile.

Cold-dip square mile red brick is her brew and bean of choice, and it will certainly meet the place after a few days spent in the barren drop of the coffee (oh, caffe nero her cakes and cookies also look quite tasty, and have been properly entered into the dinge to try in york for our next trip northwards!
