What Lottelli doesn't like about Middletons:
We stopped for some lunch here. Nice looking menu. My partner got the hanging chicken kebab which looked impressive. Some of the meat was red in the middle though. I had the fish and chips which again looked great but the fish had a funny taste to it and I don’t think it was fresh. It was a shame because sitting outside was really nice. View all feedback.
Received a Christmas gift for tea for 2 and was looking forward to it, as I had seen it advertised on the Yorkshire food guide web site and in Yorkshire life magazine and it looked wonderful, how wrong i was. 3 small finger sandwiches each, 2 small pieces of sausage roll, 2 tiny scones, a couple of hard macaroons and 3 small non discript sweets. Nothing like the advertised fare. The staff were very pleasant but this was the worst afternoon tea I had eaten. Value for money, definitely not. For £44 I was expecting something like the photos.
I thought a cream tea in York would make a nice anniversary treat and the hotel looks quite good in the description. I'm not sure where the Edwardian house is, because we were put in a large and gloomy room, only two of about 20 tables set, a view through a high window of the car park and some lift music. The staff were not attentive or interested in us. The food was OK, but apart from the sandwiches seemed to have come from Tesco. When we'd finished, we sat and waited for a while, nobody seemed interested or came so we left. A really disappointing experience and the only upside is that we used a voucher which meant we only wasted £25. Unacceptably bad!
Afternoon tea review after picking up a voucher off TravelZoo... First off the staff were very friendly and asked all the appropriate questions about allergies and when we'd like our tea served. I do get the half glass of prosecco comment in another review. Sandwiches were finger shaped salmon cream cheese, Yorkshire ham picalilli and cheese and pickle. All perfectly acceptable without standing out too much. The scones were nice, I thought home made due to being slightly warm and crisp parts from the oven. My criticism of the scones was not a lot of cream and jam, but also the jam was not local when there are so many lovely jams round here. The cakes were a mixture of macarons, strawberry tart, chocolate slice and a ginger sponge. All acceptable and went down a treat. All in all a good experience. Would I come again, maybe, but also might look around first.
Food absolutely shocking . £85 a head and a bad stomach throughout the night. Breakfast not bad but breakfast room not very nice smelt quite fusty . I expected better from this establishment but, disappointing to say the least. If I had paid £4500 for 50 quests I would insist on a refund . Should be ashamed of themselves for the shoddy food and even more shoddy hot running wedding Buffett which consisted of under cooked rice, chicken tikka cold, meat pie cold, peas and chips cold, absolutely disgraceful . Middleton need to up their standards . You get what you pay for! So give what you got paid !
Had afternoon tea today with a Travelzoo deal. Nicely presented and adequate . Table nicely set with linen cloth and napkins. No real complaints but didn’t think it was worth anymore than the voucher price.
