Contribute FeedbackGiraffe restaurant in York received mixed reviews from customers. Some found the food uninspired, service slow, and mistakes in the bill. Others enjoyed a variety of dishes, good food quality, and excellent service, especially for families. One reviewer noted that the closing times should be confirmed, as they witnessed customers being turned away. Overall, the atmosphere was described as odd, with some issues like couscous not properly prepared and limited dessert options. Despite the varied experiences, Giraffe seems like a decent option for a family meal, with some improvements needed in terms of service and consistency.
The restaurant offered a good variety of dishes to suit everyone's taste. I ordered the Lamb Tagine, but the couscous was not properly fluffed up and still retained the shape of the container it came from. The atmosphere was a bit odd, as we had booked a table for 6:30 but could hear the staff thanking each other at 7:00, indicating they were closing. We witnessed a couple being turned away at 7:00 for arriving too late and another couple with a confirmed online booking for 7:30 also being turned away. Unfortunately, when it came to dessert, my daughter was unable to have churros as the kitchen had already shut down. Overall, it is a nice place to dine but be sure to call ahead and confirm closing times, especially on a bank holiday weekend.
This was our first visit to a Giraffe restaurant and we had a wonderful experience. Our three children were well taken care of, despite their numerous drink requests! The quality of the food was very good and the service was outstanding. We happened to visit during a quieter time, which made the experience even more personalized. I would highly recommend Giraffe, especially for families.
The staff at Giraffe York Monks Cross are very friendly and the atmosphere is nice. It remains our top choice for family meals.
Great evening nice food we both had the curry which was mild but tasty.Excellent service and a free bottle of prosecco
The food was good, a variety of different dishes for every taste. I had the lamb Tagine- the cousin had not been blown up enough, and still resembled the shape of the container he came from! It was a strange atmosphere. We have booked a table for 6.30, and come in a lot of time, but we could tell the staff about 7, thanks for coming together, we didn't think about it until a few came around 7, and were turned away because they were finished serving. Then came a couple who had booked online (like us), but for 7.30 a.m., and they were turned away even though they had the email confirmation of their booking. When it came to the pudding, my daughter Churrios wanted to, but we couldn't have them because they had put everything in the kitchen!! Overall, it is a nice place to eat, but phone calls and ask when they close especially on a holiday weekend!!
