Quality Japanese cuisine hidden away in downtown Auckland. I chanced upon this restaurant while looking for a place to eat not too far from the water front. The menu looked good and the service was friendly. Lots of choice with the standards of Japanese cafe eating. I opted for the chicken curry which was delicious. This is an incredible authentic Japanese restaurant with a friendly and attentive owner. The Samurai Platter was so generous that it left both of us feeling completely satisfied. We also shared an avocado salad, which pushed us over the edge to beyond full! Thankfully, we followed the owner’s suggestion to skip the mixed tempura to avoid wasting food. I thoroughly enjoyed the unique flavors and would highly recommend the Samurai Meat Platter.
I tried the BRB Hazy Pale Ale, and I’m not sure if it was the frosty glass or the beer itself, but it was by far the best beer I've had in both Australia and New Zealand. We started with edamame, and I have to say, it was the best I’ve had in a long time. It was simply steamed and seasoned with salt, but the beans had a depth of flavor that was exceptional. For the main course, I had the special Pork Katsu while my partner opted for the Wayu Black Burger. The burger was absolutely stunning—I've recently seen a "best burgers in Auckland" list, and this one definitely deserves a spot. The Pork Katsu was served with steamed rice and miso soup and was simply delightful. To top it all off, the small team of three running the restaurant was incredibly friendly. I highly recommend this place; you won't be disappointed!
Highly recommended!!! The food is excellent for both lunch and dinner! The Wagyu beef is absolutely delicious, and the meat platter is amazing! However, the 全黒 (Zenkuro) sake is overpriced.

Staff were very kind after misunderstanding of what credit cards they accept. Amex is unfortunately not one of them.
Super nice price and dishes. I love the place, quite warm and cozy. The sashimi was fresh and delicious, the grilled salmon was superb. The cream cheese matcha cake is a must-try. It's not ordinary sponge cheese cake but a piece of matcha cheese Yup, a whole piece of matcha cheese, not cheesecake, I'm not wrong . I would definitely come again after the lockdown.
