What User likes about Royal Oak:
This beautiful small local pub has a cozy wood stove that burns during the cooler months, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The staff are friendly and pour a great pint of rebellion beer (and there's also Everest beer if you prefer). The service is normally fast, even during busy times. I have never had a bad meal here, whether it's the Nepalese specialties, the Sunday roast, or just a simple lunch of fish and... View all feedback. What GlobetrottingViking doesn't like about Royal Oak:
This looks like a normal English countryside pub, but once inside you enter a piece of Nepal. The menu is all Nepalese, and the quality would not be out of place in a five star restaurant in Kathmandu. We had a group here and ended up having a selection of different dishes to share. Those worried about too spicy food were surprised at the many options for the more delicate tastes. View all feedback.

read moreNestled in the English countryside, this charming pub surprises visitors with its authentic Nepalese cuisine that rivals five-star fare from Kathmandu. While the vibrant atmosphere and diverse menu impress, recent concerns have emerged regarding inconsistent opening hours and food quality, overshadowing its once lively charm. Patrons rave about generous portions and attentive service, especially regarding dishes like the chicken Madras and the flavorful sizzler. However, there are lingering worries about the establishment's future, particularly regarding the owner's apparent neglect of his responsibilities. Despite these challenges, the pub remains a hidden gem for those seeking an unexpected culinary experience.
