Have to say we had a good full breakfast but expensive. However the coffee cups are small and at over £3 per cup this not good value. There is plenty of competition in the High Street

My friend and I stopped in for a quick lunch at this cafe on Pershore High Street. We both ordered the soup of the day, which was minestrone and leek and potato soup, each served with a sourdough roll and butter for £6.50 each. However, we were disappointed to discover that the minestrone soup was actually a brown liquid with bits of rehydrated onion floating in it. When we questioned the waitress, she admitted that it was made from reconstituted powder, not fresh ingredients. The leek and potato soup also lacked flavor and seemed to be made from powder as well. Additionally, the bread rolls were not actually sourdough, but basic rolls heated in a microwave. We were not happy with the poor quality of the food and the high price charged for it. It was a disappointing experience at an otherwise decent cafe.

Upon entering the restaurant, I felt a sense of sadness and a bit of depression. The seating area consisted of tired sofas with low tables, and the cushions were all very flat. Behind us, there was a wall divider hiding something, giving the cafe an overall neglected feeling. The menu was quite basic, but that was fine with me. It was printed on paper on the table, with specials included. Although it wasn't clear, table service was offered. However, the service was incredibly slow. After waiting for a while, I ended up going to the kiosk to inquire about our order, and was promptly told to sit back down. When our waiter finally took our order for two fryups and coffee, there was no inquiry about how we wanted our eggs cooked or if we wanted a large coffee. She did offer a choice of bread, though. The coffee was mediocre and served in small cups, not very impressive. The food arrived promptly on large oval plates, but looked quite sad. The beans were like sludge, the sausages were tasteless and overcooked, the mushrooms were soggy, and the potatoes greasy. The only tasty items on the plate were the bacon, black pudding, and bread. Overall, for the price of £10.50, I expected a much better dining experience. No one asked us if everything was alright with our meal, but I would have been honest if they had. When I asked for brown sauce, it tasted cheap and unpleasant. The atmosphere of the cafe was quite melancholy, with very few items displayed on the shelves. I regret spending nearly £30 and countless calories on this disappointing meal. I had hoped to enjoy it, but there are much better dining options on Pershore high street that offer higher quality food and coffee for the same price. I left feeling very let down.

Have used this cafe before for a coffee. In the past it was marginally ok but my friends liked to meet there so I went too. It’s definitely getting worse. Food poor quality and therefore overpriced for what you get. A toasted sandwich was £8.95 and essentially 2 beige slices of processed bread, a bit of bagged salad chucked on the side with sweaty tasteless bacon and Brie on the inside. Nothing like a nice crisp toastie should be. The outdoor seating area is tired and furniture in need of some tlc. The service wasn’t great, food slammed down and no glasses brought with the bottles of cold drinks. Overall there are far nicer places to eat and have a decent coffee in Pershore, so this has been my final visit to sugar and spice.

We enjoyed a lunch of toasties and crumpets with cheese. All food was excellent, and teas served with tea pot and pot of hot water too. We sat in a cosy section of the cafe which was intimate and suitable for chatting.
