Lovely meal with family. Ham egg and chips superb. Steal pie had a lovely flavour and was very enjoyable but a reheated slice of pie. Didn't spoil the meal though. Staff attentive and put candles I a pudding for a birthday celebration. A Saturday night but very quiet in there which is a shame for the pub as the food is good. View all feedback.
What Sam L doesn't like about Gardeners Arms:
We visited this pub as it was close to where we were staying Lovely pub, large outdoor space Not busy… probably about 10 tables taken. Food took 45mins to arrive. Wasnt great when it did arrive…. peas a little dried up, chips were over cooked and bread bit stale. Reason was that the chef was stressed as 4/5 orders came in at once. I had to revise my review because although they offer a gluten-free menu, they do not have a separate fryer. This means that the chips and sweet potato fries, while gluten-free themselves, are fried in the same oil as gluten-containing products.
While this restaurant claims to be gluten free, they make no effort to provide any gluten free alternatives. They offer a menu of naturally gluten free options, but when we asked if we could order a dish with a substitution for our coeliac son, the chef refused. Despite the waitress initially thinking it wouldn't be a problem to make a simple substitution of scrambled eggs instead of fried eggs, the chef flatly refused. It was disappointing that there were no gluten free bread or buns available, despite the website suggesting otherwise. Ultimately, our son ended up having ham and chips, which was good but not what we had hoped for.

Totally get that it might take time, but at least make it nice when it comes and the chef being stressed isn’t a reason to leave us that long. I noticed other customers who weren’t there when we ordered were eating in the bar area when I went in to ask where it was. I’m not usually one to leave a bad review but £30 for kids meal, lunchtime (small meal) and a sandwich is enough to pay.. it should come timely and be nice when it gets there
Went for a midweek lunch. Could have sat inside or outside, loads of space. Lovely local pub. Food was generous and very tasty had the homemade pie. Great location in pretty village for a drive out
Warm Welcome, lovely Public House/Restaurant, good menu and offer gluten free food too. Lovely food and good size portions. One I definitely would return too and recommend
