What Jenny Kern doesn't like about Brasserie:
this restaurant has everything it needs. styilsh, friendly staff, pretty good cooking. we had a very good fish and crab soup, rather good grilled garnel, etc. I only give two stars because I made the mistake to order a pâté de foie gras. what. Elegant and modern restaurant on the ground floor of the wuppertal opera house. the service is impeccable and friendly, not too formal. the menu is seasonal and constantly changing, proven by the handwritten card (it does not seem to be a standard menu). we had a cannon salad and a beet soup. both were very good, but the rabbit pieces were a bit dry and the suppe could have been a bit more away from the beet. as a main course I had a venison carving that was excellent, including all the side tables and the sauce, while my man had the steak, that was a wee bit about the middle brand he asked. the dessert called millefeuilles' was actually a 3-foeuilles (i.e. 3 thin cookies,) that a few berries cream and a chocolate. the whole composition was somewhat disappointing. the quality of the ingredients that are combined on an imaginative way deserves a very good review, but we somehow missed the wow factor. to come with coffee and drinks at under 90 euro was nevertheless a very beautiful surprise!

I went here with colleagues for lunch and we were not disappointed. Services was speedy and attentive without being overbearing. The food came in one go nicely arranged as a platter of three, very convenient when here for a quick bite during lunch. A quick...peek onto the evening menu looked promising, will definitely come here again in the evening.
... and this is somewhat reflected in the attitude. They don‘t open till p.m. and no matter if you‘ve booked a table well in advance, they‘ll give large groups precedence and wedge your table somewhere in the back between the cloth hanger and the...toilet. Food and wine are allright. Our next visit to the Opera is in April and we‘ll look further away for a better option
This restaurant has everything it needs. Styilsh, friendly staff, pretty good cooking. What...I got was, next to a large quantity of spinach leaves, two small pieces of totally tasteless pâté that came right out of a discount supermarket you could actually still see the marks of the plastic container in the pâté. And for this, I was charged euros
