Excellent. Booked at 15 mins notice at 1pm Sunday when booked restaurant was closed. Really good Sunday lunch and nice people. Thank you. Regular roasts (beef, lamb and chicken) with superb garlic mushroom starter. Too full for puddings but coffee and biscuits fine. View all feedback.
What bazza950 doesn't like about The White Horse Inn:
a cold january night we had booked for dinner. The bar area was busy so into the rear area we went.Sat next to a cold radiator not turned off,all were off.ditto dining area woodstove. So keeping coats on we ordered. basic pub grub no paper menu just a clak board not even listing prices of what you got. previous meals have been superb but now the opening hours are limited maybe not going to be here much longer? I may go... View all feedback.
Very disappointed advised when we arrived they no longer served food nothing about this on any website. Also choice of Joules ales very limited
Went in on Wednesday, had the steak and pie, oh my god absolutely delicious, and a pint for £10, too cheap but not arguing lol. Spoke to the chef Andy, nice lad, he has got some great ideas on what food he wants to introduce to the menu, what a passionate man about food, keep up the good work team
We popped in for our first visit to The White Horse in Overton today, having been to look at the inexplicably slow progress on our house build nearby. And, we were mighty glad we did! This will definitely become our new local, once we finally move into the area. Dog-friendly too, hurrah! Our meals were superb. Husband is an ex-chef/restrauter himself, so we know when our food has been prepared and cooked well. Andy is their new chef, we were told, and his menu is all about good, traditional pub food, done exceptionally well. The fresh ham hock terrine was beautifully hand made and served with Andy 's own deliciously piquant piccalilli. The sausages and mash were cooked to perfection and made us determined to visit 'Evans the Butcher ' two doors down, to see what other delicious treats might be in store. The chicken curry was tasty and authentic, served with warm, moist naan breads. We both opted for puddings and were served with more wonderful local produce, scrummy honeycomb ice cream to accompany the sticky toffee pudding. The fruit pavlova was fresh and light, perfect to round off a summer supper. Since Andy can cook so beautifully, it would have been wonderful if he 'd made the meringue himself but we know that is asking a lot. I must finally mention Sam, our barman/waiter. What a superbly competent, polished young man he is. A real find. We hope his manager appreciates what an asset Sam is to the business. In such trying times for hospitalty generally, Sam is a genuinely talented team member, with huge future potential. Thanks to Andy and Sam, we 'll definitely be back, very soon.
Absolutely awful. We had a 45 minute wait for our starters. We had to request them twice. Mains arrived, ordered 3 x lamb shanks, which were lukewarm. The gnocchi was burnt beyond recognition dry. A main of salad mix veg was requested. The mixed veg took so long to be brought out, everyone else had finished their mains. Requested no potato, but potatoes were the first veg brought out. A mixed veg side of potato root veg, was burnt doused in gravy, inedible. When I raised my issues looked to complain, it was if they were not bothered, siting we’ve had a number of disasters today! Not what you want when celebrating Mother’s Day. The best part of the afternoon was the live entertainment, Billy Shannon, he was absolutely fantastic.
We had a lovely meal at this pub today, went early as we hadn’t made a booking and was pleasantly met by the staff who made us a fantastic roast, I had beef and my partner had lamb. Piping hot roasters, carrots, mash, gravy, peas and cauliflower cheese were in dishes and were more than plenty for the both of us.
