We had a lovely evening at this restaurant, which had a diverse crowd of people. Jon and Jo welcomed us warmly into their establishment, where we enjoyed delicious food while being serenaded with wonderful singing. What User doesn't like about Not So Secret Suppers:
We were all excited to reunite after many years, but the experience at the restaurant was not as we had hoped. The access to the restaurant was difficult during the day, with uneven steps both outside and inside the dining area. The highlight of the meal was the main course, but we were disappointed by overcooked green beans, boiled carrots, and some new carrots served in a dry Pyrex dish. The fish was also overcooke... Beautifully cooked food, a great homely atmosphere, fantastic company and to top it off the chef sings. What more could you want? I also think the value was really good at £35 considering it is fine dining. I had swordfish, scallops and a dessert of...chocolate torte, with a few of the chefs surprise mini treats thrown in it really is a steal.
Jon and his team catered for a family birthday celebration on Christmas Eve in Brooklands Barn where we were staying for Christmas. The whole experience was magical. The team arrived on time, calmly prepared the food and served it with a friendly professionalism. Everything was...exactly as promised, with the additional magic of Jon singing as he cooked wonderful. And they cleared up afterwards! Would recommend them any time.
A really enjoyable evening in an eclectic mix of people. Jon and Jo made us feel welcome in their home, delicious food accompanied by delightful singing! We were greeted by cocktails then moved on to a three course meal with additional treats. A donation was made to a very worthy local charity fir homeless people. A misy relaxing way to start the bank holiday weekend. Thank you both very much!
Two of us booked ourselves not having experienced before this kind of set up. You pre-select the dishes you want from the menu and pay a deposit on line. On arrival we were served a cocktail and introduced ourselves to the other diners (maximum of 12). We all shared a rectangular table which made difficult to talk to the people at the other end. Every course was delicious and we could not fault any of it. However, although we got on well with the other diners, by 10 o'clock we were ready to leave. However we thought it might be considered rude so we waited a little longer. We would much prefer to sit on our own, but we appreciate this is not part of the experience. My rate is based on the food and the lovely singing voice of the chef!
Absolutely fabulous time, booked private party for 12 , all unsure of where we were going. So funny seeing their faces going in the back entrance past the bins. They were bold over with the cuisine, and loved Jon singing. Jo was the perfect host. Watch out we will return !!!!
