Rodd Mill River - Woodstock

Good service, lovely ambience. Terrific view of 18th hole. Great golf too. Good food, lots of fish on menu. Chef playful with food. Good wine list too. Great place to celebrate or entertain.

Last week I Almost booked one night at booking.com, but decided to call and check first. The voice message system says the hotel is closed for the season. I tried a different number and it said the same thing. So I decided to go somewhere else.Yesterday I stayed in another RODD and got a promotional flyer for this hotel, offering a package for this season. Still cant understand it if this place is closed or not.

With few dining opportunities in West Prince, there is an opportunity to create something interesting, particularly with the views overlooking the golf course. Unfortunately, the menu is run of the mill (no pun intended) and pretty disappointing. A little more imagination and use of fresh local produce could transform the situation and make the place a dining destination.

Delicious meal! Best seafood chowder with Large chunks of fish! Big piece of lobster on top! Offered in a cup $(9-10) or a bowl $(13-14). Pan fried haddock, with delicious perfectly cooked asparagus and other veggies, was VERY good, on an earlier visit in May! Presentation was exemplary too! Definitely returning again this summer!

Things are changing here at Mill River and the investment in the property may make changes in the furniture and decor which is badly needed. The food was great but extra slow on this day. Eat the chowder. It is great.
