lovely cafe with a wonderful garden setting and eclectic interior that appealed to my inner artisan. Came for coffee and cake today during our tour of the Adelaide hills. Catered for the soy and gluten free generation (such as myself). Nice atmosphere with lovely service. If I had one criticism it would be the flies on the uncovered food on the counter. Still well worth a visit though. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Avalon:
The building is fantastic with great character and nicely furnished inside. They had a great selection of cakes so good for afternoon tea. Lunch options menu fairly limited but still enjoyed a nice bowl of soup and a turkish roll with chicken. Also chose the Belgium hot chocolate which was only average. The service was very slow but friendly. View all feedback.

We found this gorgeous cafe tucked behind the Main Street in Woodside and was so pleased we did. The menu was really simple with gourmet burgers, salads, sandwiches and some lovely looking baked goods as well. We sat outside in the front garden but there is also a courtyard and seating inside. They also sell loads of lovely art and craft goodies as well.
Tucked behind another property on Woodside's main street we found Avalon and were so pleased we did. The cafe is housed on the ground floor of a two storey stone fronted building. It has a garden out front and back but as it was 35 degrees we opted for the cool inside. The cafe doubles as a shop with French provincial style pieces in the main. We only planned to stop for a cool drink but once inside decided on lunch. The salad and Mediterranean tart that we ordered were fresh and just the right size for lunch. The coffee was disappointing though. It seems Adelaide coffee makers have caught the American 'more is better disease' - it's not. A black coffee is not at its best when served in a bucket sized cup. It should be in a cup slightly larger than an espresso cup. So please ditch the buckets. Otherwise this is a delightful spot to stop.
We stopped here for a break on our way to the Barossa Valley. A carrot cake and a chocolate cake, plus 2 flat whites in a calming atmosphere was just what we needed. All for just over 20 Australian Dollars. Just what we needed.
Call In on a Saturday afternoon had mull wine and a small meal all of a high standard will return .service very friendly
