What 602 Squadron doesn't like about Great Western Pub:
I wrote a review last June saying that the quality of some of the food, especially the chips, was not what it was before the refurbishment change of ownership. Sadly, that's still the case. The beer is very well kept, and the staff and the atmosphere friendly and welcoming, but the food still lets it down. Chips were soggy, greasy and tasted as though the deep fat fryer hadn't been changed in days, and the faggots (w... View all feedback. What faiths607 likes about Great Western Pub:
Visited with friends for mid week lunch. Lovely pub full of interesting railway memorabilia. Small but adequate menu with basic pib grub ie faggots and peas, fish and chips etc and a couple if proper puds with custard. Food arrived promptly, good size portions the chocolate sponge and custard was enormous. Proper chips too. Pub was very busy the entire time i was there, nice buzzing friendly atmosphere View all feedback.

read moreNestled beneath railway arches, this charming pub captures the essence of the traditional Black Country experience. Patrons rave about its fantastic selection of locally brewed ales, friendly staff, and inviting atmosphere adorned with railway memorabilia. However, diners have noted inconsistencies in food quality, particularly with soggy chips and uninspired dishes. Nonetheless, standout offerings like the Black Country grey peas and hearty faggots continue to receive applause. The welcoming vibe and robust portion sizes make it a popular choice for both casual lunches and evening meals. Visitors leave cherishing the memories of a genuine local gem, eager to return.
The food on match day is excellent, and they also have some of the best ales I've ever tasted.
This pub is fantastic, with an open fire always lit at the front bar. The Bathams beer is amazing, and the cheese and onion cobs are delicious!
This pub in Wolverhampton is one of the finest in town.
