Great authentic Indian food. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Food was presented nice and cam out of the kitchen fast. Good place for some wholesome food and a casual get together. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Taj Mahal:
As far as the food goes I can't fault this restaurant. The meals we were served were delicious; full of flavour, fresh and good sized portions. I just didn't particularly like the restaurant itself. The staff were unwelcoming and almost rude. They wouldn't let our friends order ahead of our arrival (we were five minutes away) and were brusque and unfriendly when attending to our table. Where do I begin. Firstly, I rang ahead to book and left a message. I never ever got a reply. A week later I rang again to book for that night and got this: "name, how many, time". That was it literally and the phone hung up before I could ask anything. We turned up and we were not impressed, bright yellow walls and black ceiling, no table clothes, no decor and absolutely no ambiance.. It really did look more like a truck stop than a so called restaurant. We thought things have to get better. Menus were not placed in front of us but rather slid across the table. Mmmm I thought. We ordered and in no time at all our shared entree came. Wait for it..... One piece chicken tikka cut in half, one tiny sausage cut in half and two very small parcels. We could not believe they had actually cut each peice in half to share. I was shocked and wanted to get up then and there and complain but our mains had been ordered so did not want them to tamper with them. Next to the entrees were two approx teaspoons of salad, red cabbage and shredded carrot. The cabbage had brown tinged edges and it was dry looking as was the carrot, so would not eat that. Even the plates and cutlery looked old like the entree. The mains came Bombay beef and Madras lamb, rice and garlic nans. Both dishes looked identical until we tasted them. The Bombay beef was very hot and the madras not so much and this was good, but unfortunately the few bits of meat in both were of poor standard. Both my husband and I experienced too much grisle and chewy meat with way to much sauce. The rice was awful as if it was cooked days ago. It was dry with a stale look to it. Did not eat much of it at all. The garlic nans were the only enjoyable part of the meal. During the meal we called the waiter to ask for water of which we got pronto. However, we also had soft drinks but the waiter never gave us glasses to drink the soft drinks from. Not once did the waiter ever ask if everything was ok in fact all he did was to sit at his teller waiting for customers (all four) to get up to leave so he could clear the table. All the time it felt as if he were staring at his customers. We both felt very uncomfortable. I have never, ever been anywhere like this before. Just awful!

The staff were unwelcoming and almost rude. They wouldn't let our friends order ahead of our arrival (we were five minutes away) and were brusque and unfriendly when attending to our table. The restaurant seemed fairly unorganised with several tables turning up and nothing ready for them. I'd definitely get take away food from this restaurant but I wouldn't go back there for a sit down meal.
TajMahal lives up to its name, and does indeed serve some of the finest Indian cuisine I've cared to sample in the southern hemisphere. My favourite thing
First of all, I've arranged to book and leave a message. I've never got a answer. a week later I was able to book for this night again and got this: name, how many, time. that was literally and the phone. hung up before I could ask something. we turned up and we were not impressed, bright yellow walls and black deck, no table clothes, no decoration and absolutely no ambiente. it really looked more like a truck stop than a so-called restaurant. we thought it had to be better. menus were not placed in front of us, but slipped over the table. I thought. we ordered and in no time came our common escape. a piece of chops in half, a tiny sausage in half and two very small packages cut. we could not believe that they had actually cut every pfirsich into the half to share. I was shocked and wanted to get up and complain, but our net had been ordered so that they didn't want to tamper with them. beside the deeren were two about teespoon salate, red cabbage and comminuted carrot. the cabbage had brown lined edges and it was dry looking like the carrot, so that would not eat. even the plates and cutlery looked old like the escape. the main thing came bombay bark and madras lamb, rice and garlic nans. both courts looked identical until we tasted them. the Bombay beef was very hot and the madras not so much and that was good, but unfortunately the few pieces of meat were in both of bad standard. both my man and I experienced too much crispy and chewing meat with a lot of sauce. the rice was terrible as if it was cooked before days. it was dry with a stale look on it. didn't eat much of it. the garlic nans were the only pleasant part of the meal. during the meal we called the waiter to ask for water from which we got pronto. we had soft drinks, but the waiter never gave us glasses to drink the soft drinks. not even the waiter ever asked if everything was in order, in which everything he did was to sit on his teller, to wait for the customers (all four) to go on, so that he could delete the table. When he stared at his customers, it felt. we both felt very comfortable. I've never been like this before.
