Really lovely dinner. We had barramundi, scotch fillet, schnitzel and the food was great, but the kids menu is all the usual junk food - nuggets, chips etc without options for veggies, so a bit disappointing in that respect (although not disappointing for kids!.). View all feedback.
What Randi Bartoletti doesn't like about Big Fish Cafe & Grill- Wollongong Golf Club:
We came here last year for a golf trip and the food was excellent. Unfortunately this time, the food was terrible. We all tried different meals on different nights to no avail. The majority of the dishes on the menu (which is limited) are dishes that anyone who has spent more than 5 minutes in a kitchen couldn't get wrong, yet the chefs (using the term very loosely) have done an impressive job in making over a dozen... Lunched in a group of 5. I ordered the 180g eye fillet medium rare with salad ($32). Steak was medium with only slight pink in middle. I asked for salad without dressing, so unsure if that influenced the size and makeup of what I was given, but sorry - two cos lettuce leaves, three slivers of cucumber with two cherry tomatoes just doesn't cut it for me. Left feeling disappointed and a bit hungry!
While my son and daughter in law were overseas the in laws stepped in to look after the 7 year old and 4 tear old grandkidsWe inlaws took the kids for a few days each and the changeover point was the Wollongong golf clubBooked a table for 6 ordered the kids meals one had fish and chips the other nuggets and chipsBoth meals looked very similar but were heartily eaten by the kidsThe adults had battered flathead big yum Cha and chorizo pizzaOverall a pleasant experience
The restaurant had a nice view, but the service was very average with no smiles from the staff. We waited 45 minutes for our burgers, which were very disappointing. I ordered a chicken chilli burger for $18, but it only had a small portion of grilled chicken, four slices of tomato, a piece of plastic cheese, peri peri mayo, and two pieces of lettuce. My husband's Wagu steak burger was overcooked and dry. We were promised a free coffee for the long wait, but it never arrived. Overall, the restaurant needs to improve as fast food chains like McDonald's and Hungry Jack's serve better food.
Visited for work golf dayBreakfast golf and then some lunch.Great day golf course is bit too hard for non regular players. The young lady looking after us for breakfast was oustanding and deserves a pay rise for how she handled a number of large groups on her own.Lunch was slow to come out and the staff provided some free hot chips as a consolation.Ordered the barramundi with watercress and pea puree.Looked great when it arrived and tasted even better crispy skin and moist flesh.Have not has a meal this nice in any club for a very long timeThanksLeanne & Paul
Of all clubs I have visited in Wollongong, this one has the most limited menu. While the steak was cooked to perfection the vegetables were tepid. Excellent views over the golf course to the ocean.
