The Warren - Wokingham

We had a great experience at the Warren thanks to the delicious food and excellent service. Elliot, a very personable young man, took great care of us and is a wonderful ambassador for the restaurant. The wine list was reasonable and the beer was fantastic.

We had a pleasant last-minute visit to this restaurant and enjoyed our time there. I ordered the lamb kofta starter and Halloumi chips for lunch, which were delicious. Although it was unplanned, we will definitely be planning another trip soon.

We had a wonderful evening at the restaurant. It was lively, with excellent service and delicious food. The atmosphere was enhanced by a diverse range of ages. The maitre’d and his new recruit were both helpful, friendly, and efficient.

We went on a week day lunchtime. The pub was packed. I know the pandemic threw hospitality into a total meltdown! They are still feeling it with recruitment and retention of people the biggest challenge. The warren was always a local favourite gastro pub and reliable. However this first visit in over two years was so disappointing I can’t see us going back. We’ve seen this in about a dozen gastro pubs in the last 12 months. Problems, only two waiting staff for the whole restaurant! They were under too much pressure. We had bread and oil to share and a main. It took almost exactly an hour and a half from being seated to receive our main! When it did both dishes were overcooked, dry and elements borderline burnt! The beer didn’t taste right either. They must get some things right as it was so busy! Were we really unfortunate or are people just accepting now that things are in turmoil still? For me, I’m not paying that price for a disappointing experience. Two days later we went elsewhere spending double the amount for outstanding food and service. Value for money, it’s a no brainier. Solution, order in take away for a reliable experience and eat out higher end until hospitality recovers!

Had a wonderful meal at The Warren. Service was excellent and my request for a table the window was honoured. Very kind consideration from lovely staff for our friend with mobility issues. Highly recommended. Our 2nd visit we will be back!
